Poll to see where we're coming from and where we're at

Aug 17, 2007 15:27

I wanted to see who we all are and where we all stand regarding the entire Strikethrough and Boldthrough situation. What demographic is represented by fandom? Are people other than fans or RPGers actively upset? What issues do you want to call attention to most? Are they common issues?

Therefore, a poll. Please spread in related communities or to people you know to be concerned with this situation. Please take all three sections - it shouldn't take very long at all. (*Average posts per day refers to the total of posts on your main journal, all other journals, and any community posts that you would make* Also, you can change your answers by clicking on the poll number, and then clicking the [ Fill out Poll ] link at the top of the page.)

1. LiveJournal user statistics of concerned parties

2. LiveJournal accounts and habits
***Please use the information for how you were *before* Strikethrough or Boldthrough****

3. Regarding the new (or new to our understanding) policy and enforcement of sexual content for fictional characters who may be under the age of 18
Poll Regarding the "new" policy and enforcement of the current issue

NEW BETTER age breakdown for over 30

If you would like to add anything, please use the comments and direct it as if you were speaking to LJ staff. Try to keep it polite and brief (under one paragraph) and refrain from responding to each other here. Short, simple, and easily found by subject line is the goal.

****Edit - I'm going to start screening replies specifically regarding the poll (so feel free to ask and I'll answer then move the info up here) and aggregate the concerns/answers .

You can edit your answers if you want!!!After you vote in a poll, you can change your answers by clicking on the poll number, and then clicking the [ Fill out Poll ] link at the top of the page. (from FAQs)

Lack of zeros: Yeah, having zeros (0) as an option for some answers was something I didn't think about until it was posted - and you can't edit quizzes... I'm sorry about that!

Age: Oh, damn and shit! I was trying to find out how we represented the statistics here (scroll down to age). There weren't enough lines to make it quite that long so, since it appeared those of us over 30 were such a small number, I ended it there... big oops! I'm in that age category myself so it's not ageism, I swear! Please see the additional age breakdown poll for those of us over 30!

No one can see who filled out what: This poll is made so that you have privacy with things like your age, location, and main concern. I am the only one who can see those. I will wait a few days or a week and then post up the most popular states or state by head-count. I will begin aggregating the concerns anonymously and sorting by topic heading and will put them under another cut at the bottom of this post every day or so.

Comments: I just wanted people to be able to state good points or concerns (or ask specific things of the staff, I guess) without anyone having to click on threaded discussions. Instead of a reply like "I agree with this," can you post your own - don't forget the subject line - it makes for good scrolling through to find topics of interest. Staff replies are the only ones I won't screen. They may certainly reply but, again, that wasn't my initial intention.

Gender: I realize now that I absolutely should have included "trangender" "prefer not to specify" or "other" on the gender section. I already have three responses from folks in TG or unspecified categories, so please feel free to leave a screened comment in my personal journal if you would like to be counted in any other category (or you may comment here and you or I can screen it). I don't mean to be impersonal or insulting, but this way you can use the descriptor you prefer. I'll include that in the summary write-up I am thinking about doing at some point down the road if we want to.
