Morality in Media (a.k.a. shades of Big Brother)

The DOJ is outsourcing it's Web obscenity investigations. They claim they have nothing to do with the program but their web site invites citizens to report any material they believe is obscene for investigation and if necessary, ( Read more... )

There is such a thing as Separation of Church and State. However, it has nothing to do with this particular circumstance. Morality In Media is not a church. Morality in Media may be working FOR the government, but it is not acking AS the government. Further it is not restricting anyone from practicing a recognized religion, nor is it forcing anyone to practice one particular religion. As much as it might like to do either of those things (or not, I don't know) - it's still not an arm of the U.S. government, merely a contracted agency ( ... )

Link away. I'm a watcher on dark Christianity but not yet a member or I'd have posted there too.

No, it's *not* just about fandom or LJ or HP "smut". It's about the very real possibility of losing freedoms we all take for granted, and that's a helluva scary thought.

I posted the article you linked to at the Dark Christian LJ - and got this very interesting response:

Basically, it says that Morality in the Media are in breach of Standards for Charity Accountability...
Surely an organisation like that wouldn't be trusted with important DoJ work?
(/sarcasm)

Or more to the point, would that status make them ineligible as a contractor, and thus negate their legal status?
