(My saying is that the Free Speech was created for the things that are offensive, and need defending, not what we all agree on.)

Precisely. But if we're going to get banned for fictional characters in graphics, then let's rock it for everyone.

Selective censorship, a Livejournal tradition.

I agree wholeheartedly.

Oh honey, this is nothing. A while ago I stumbled across a Dutch-language child-free community which advocated killing and raping children. It was disgusting - they had graphic images of dead children posted and would cheer at them.

I reported the community to LJ Abuse. The reponse I got from them was to no longer visit the community if this offended me.

What an interesting message for them to give.

Pity they don't do it for everyone. *eyeroll*

That doesn't sound very Childfree. That's simply murderous.

Oh definately. There's being childfree, and then there's being batshit-fucking-insane.

The community, by the way, still exists. Looks like it's become pretty inactive, but it's still there. Of course. Livejournal is so busy protecting the children from the ebil HP pr0n they have no time to protect them from people who discuss the various ways in which you could conceivably kill a baby.

WOW. no words.

I'm afraid to click on the rest of the links, but reading on the user info/bio page was enough to get my stomach into a knot.

The colorbar community is especially lovely. Their hate of everyone just bleeds, with full frontal nudity, blatant torture, pro-child abuse...it's horrific.

If there are pictures of real children being abused, that would count as actual child pornography, I should think. I'm not clicking those links, because I don't think my stomach could handle it (whether it's children or adults being abused).

Whether or not that's the case, though, it occurs to me that perhaps LJ has an internal policy of refusing to back up *any* user abuse complaints, and that the HP slash art was reported by some non-LJ person with leverage.

It also occurs to me: has anyone any evidence of LJ *ever* helping out a user who made an abuse complaint? I've seen so much anecdotal evidence of LJ telling users who suffered genuine harassment from other users being told by LJ to shut up and take it like a man, or else leave, I'm starting to wonder...

I'm amused by banned_colorbar's "No child porn" rule - but that their definition is still only actual photographs... A Harry Potter porn colorbar would be most appropriate to be posted in a community with that name!

Yes, and if you go a few pages back, you can see the adorable colorbar of abused kids, that says "Child abuse is shut the hell up or I'll give you something to cry about love".

I find that far more obscene than sexuality.

Love the one about Virginia Tech, especially. :/

Isn't that precious?

You have to wonder what kind of asshat defense they will have, or if they'll just ignore it, like they do every post from people who refuse to suck at the corporate nipple.

I seriously feel like throwing up, 'cause I looked at one specific graphic I shouldn't have looked at. I know you warned us but due to lack of language I didn't understand one word and clicked the link. Don't blame you, of course. Should've looked the word's meaning before clicking.

LJ doesn't suspend communities who post graphics of real dead people with other members cheering at them for that but people who draw slash. God, what a world. It's solely sad. :\ I just have no words any more, seriously.

*feels blank*

I'll try reporting folk_and_faith (although I know that some of you have done that already).

Exactly. REAL people. REAL children being harmed.

Livejournal doesn't care about that. And those were only the sites I found in 30 minutes.

30 minutes...

Yes. Report them. Make LJ deny your request in writing. Save it.

Okay, this was the first time I reported something and I must say I was not surprised (but highly disappointed) to not find a field to type in exactly what offended me. I think we should be allowed to explicit say and express how we felt about encountering any kind of disturbing content. I hope that whoever will check the community I reported feels as disgusted as I did when I clicked the link.

Sick parents sharing advice about how to train your child by batting it is not as bad as posting HP porn, of course. *pukes*

I'll save it and let you guys know. We're all in the same boat after all and should therefore stick together no matter what.
