LINKS to prohibited content

Aug 09, 2007 12:33

I know that this is one of the major unanswered questions, and there's been some speculation about some (unclear) answers from someone in the lj_biz post. Well, as soon as the post went up and I saw that there wasn't an answer, I sent in a support request with the exact wording from the open letter:

Is posting a link to prohibited content that is ( Read more... )

OH MY GOD.

http://www.livejournal.com/abuse/policy.bml#offsite

Have they even read their own policies?!

"This one speaks for itself; we can't address any content which resides off of LiveJournal as, quite frankly, it's none of our business what occurs off our servers."

Thanks for pointing that out. I think I'll respond and ask for clarification as to how those two policies aren't uh, completely contradictory.

Considering the fact that the APaP also states that communities promoting anorexia and helping encourage people in that behavior and/or entirely dedicated to helping people be anorexic more successfully, and communities directly instucting people in methods of child abuse and animal abuse are to be removed immediately, and yet LJ/SA keeps saying proana communities and the ones in dark_christian's terrifying post aren't against their policies....no. No they do not read their own policies.

Let's bury the fuckers.

Honestly I just posted underaged smut in my journal, I will work on getting more fanfic done, I freaking want to be able to post my work if I can't even set a link, what do I want with this shitty service full of hate and spiteful people who have a total sex phobia?

BTW that is het smut, so if I get banned we know at least that it isn't homophobia ...

That would be interesting to see if they aren't just targeting slash fiction adn artwork, but it definitely shouldn't be at your expense. Do you have back ups of everything if something does happen?

I know that that was my first response when their policy came out: that we should all just write and post underaged smut where the characters are clearly old enough to consent to sex with someone over 18, but not "legally" able to do so. I wondered just what they would do then.

But alas, I never got the time to write up the post, even though I saved the points I wanted to make.

Don't worry, I have backed up all my posts - at this point I feel that LJ is hopeless. If they actually ban me, I certainly won't moan it.

It's not so much about provoking them on purpose, but just continuing to write stuff that is important to me. My fanfics are not just hot turn ons, not to me, what I write in them about underaged sex is a mix of personal experience and working up issues I had at that time.

So basically instead of suffering from sexual repression my characters get love, great sex and to escape from the confinement of society. I'm totally pro taking teens and their feelings serious - I believe it hurts them much more to be treated like jerks, then them knowing something like bondage or s/m exists (hell they know that anyway, so why not teach them what it is really about)

But somehow I doubt they will be going after het posts anytime soon - I will be watching and crossposting everything from greatestjournal via LJ Sec *gg*

Well, that's good to know. I do hope that you're able to stay just where you are in terms of having your LJ continue to exist on LJ space, whether you really want to use it or not. I know that I will keep my LJ up and I don't think that I stand a chance at being banned anytime soon. Even so, I have already set up a GJ back for 'What the fuck just happened' moments and an IJ for more active fandom use. It definitely looks like InsaneJournal is going to be the best thing for fandom at this point. You know, if we want to continue writing the fiction we want to or drawing the artwork we're able to.

I've said the exact same thing for years now. I joined fan fiction circles when I was still a teen writing adults having sex. And even when I edged out of my teenage years (but not by much, I am 22, after all), I still wrote about teens, because that's just the way life happens. Many people don't wait to have sex until they hit 18 and all of a sudden go nuts. There's some experimentation that happens before that point and I am all for ( ... )

Aha! One last major contradiction before I compile my letter and spam the hell out of the internet *Evil grin* We're at 11 major contradictions with bordering on 20 contradictory statements and actions at this point. Thanks!

Spam it in my direction, would you? Or I guess I should just ask where you're spamming it to. I'm not actually reading this community, the tendency to eat my friends page earlier led me to drop it.

They are really digging themselves into a hole here. It's like car crash TV, only sadder and and in the real time.
