I hate being unemployed. But worse than that is waiting around for responses to job applications.
Now the ones that have sent me a "thanks for your application, we'll get back to you at the start of June", that's kinda ok. I mean the weeks still drag by, but I understand their POV and appreciate the basic respect shown by getting back to me.
What does annoy me though is the ones that don't get back to you at all. There is one place I applied to while I was still at BiH, actually I applied 16/4 according to my outbox.
So anyways I applied and never even got an acknowledgement, then they advertised a management position, so I started to think "ok, it's a shake-up. Maybe they want to sort out management before they sort out casuals".
Makes sense, but a confirmation would still be nice, an email would only take 5min after all.
Now? they're advertising the exact job I applied for again *head-desk*
So I'm left to assume a) I haven't been notified 'cuz I'm still in the running; b) They've re-advertised because it's been so long, but I'm still in the running; c) I wasn't good enough, they never let me know and it's a case of "previous applicants need not apply"
The latter being the most frustrating since my qualifications and experience are actually greater than the specified essential. I.e I'm overqualified, and I know my references are solid.
Then there's the one that has got back to me, but has since advertised another position/changed the original ad (I can't tell which) and I'm wondering if I need to apply for that position as well, or if they'll consider based on the application I've already put in (that was for a higher position).
All I can say is the Wine Industry is a bit crap at the whole interviewing/hiring process, especially when compared to the interview panels my mum's been on in the public service.
I just don't get how that can expect to get the best applicants when they fuck people around so much?
P.S. I'm also going to apply for a couple of interstate jobs. Not that I particularly want to move away, but I do need a permanent job, and if I have to go I will.
