Man, this series is really making me want to write my Persuasion-by-way-of-Sherlock fic, in which Sherlock is Anne and John (in his greatcoat!) is Wentworth, though much less of a drama-queen dick.

I really will, I swear! It's just that there are things that *must* be written first. But greatcoated John is too delicious an image to ignore!

Though Sherlock is the least Anne Anne I could possibly imagine.

I know, but . . . maybe an Anne who retreats into scientific experiments rather than into her own head?

I'm just imagining him being summoned by his sibling to listen to her/him complain about her/his illness and sitting and taking it. I imagine that lasting about thirty seconds before he bursts. I mean, Anne's whole virtue is that she's dutiful and without complaint. Sherlock would just wreck that whole image...delightfully.

HA! I have to admit that I'm a little uncertain still about how the rest of the characters match up. Mycroft could be Lady Russell or Elizabeth. Molly could be Henrietta, Louisa, or Mary. Lestrade should be Benwick, unless he's Harville. Mrs. Hudson could be Sir Walter. Ooh, but who could be William Walter Elliot? Harry and Donovan should also make appearances, I think. Hmmm. Will think more on this later, unless you have any ideas?

Hey, so, I've made a start on this and hope to have it drafted in the next few weeks. Would you be up for betaing it? (Feel free to say no, obviously - there will be absolutely no hard feelings.)

How long is it? I am interested in beta'ing, but I'm moving in May, so it will be highly dependent on timing.

I'm going to spend this long weekend writing - can I get back to you on Sunday with an approximate word count?

Also, how exciting that you're moving! Boston, right?

It's at a little over 8K now, and John and Sherlock have just met again (after eight years), so I'm thinking it will probably be about 20K all told. I didn't think I'd write so much, and I'm not sure when I'll finish - it would be great if I could get it done by mid-April, but I'll have to let you know as that date grows closer. What do you think?
