I just finished my first full-length fanvid for Supernatural. And the idea for it came out of nowhere. I've got, no exaggeration, more than a dozen other songs in mind that would work for this show, and yet I came up with a Dean-centric vid set to Muse's cover of "Feeling Good."

Glad you liked the opening bits before the lyrics kick in.
That's actually Mary on the ceiling, but it's interesting that both of Celine's victims in the pilot have long blonde wavy hair.
I don't think I purposely stylized/put a filter on the Dean-in-the-water scenes (I'll check when I finally get to my home computer tonight); I think it's just how the ep looks.
Yes, sickly Dean is lovely. Bruised and dimmed and just radiating sweetness.
The sound is supposed to crash in when Dean flicks the tape cover away; I wanted that little moment to have a strong beat. It synchs up for me, but sometimes my player freaks out and things stutter.
I wanted Dean's relief at finding Sam to come just before the clip of Sam shooting him, since I thought that emotional juxtaposition was more significant than the physical one of Dean holding a gun-switches to-Sam holding a gun would be.
And I'm glad the ending worked for you!
Thanks so much for the insanely lovely feedback.

Ah mary is it, fits well with the lyrics I liked it. I get you re the shot you put in between Dean with gun/Dean gets shot - nice. That was all from memory cos my computer was being stupid. I'm sure the sound does sync, like I say it was the tiniest bit slow and I thought 'this is my player being slow!' Really lovely, hope to see more but what with your several fics (any spoilers for those by the way?) and 12 vid ideas, I don't know how you have time!!
Bruised and Dimmed Dean, lovely way of putting it ;)

I'm writing a Sam-in-college fic (specifically, Sam playing college soccer) for monkeydom.
And the third is something I've got bits and pieces of, but they don't go together yet (I've got one bit of Dean thinking about Sam, one bit Sam watching Dean, and a few third-person omniscient bits about both the boys). So who knows how that one will end up.
Are you still planning on vidding?

I'm not planning on vidding, I've played about myself but I can't get it work as well as I'd like (I'm not patient/dextrous enough for these fiddly programmes) so it's just for my fun. I'd rather focus on fic and try and hone that, though I've rather dried up there too. Ah well!

Fic ideas tend to come in waves for me; maybe it works that way for you too. The good part about not having any ideas is that you get to catch up on your reading. And it leaves you more time to try your hand at vidding, which can be really fun, and (trust me) doesn't require a lot of skill.

That is exactly how it is for me, I had a week with loads of ideas, they didn't all turn into things, but a couple did. Ironically the most experimental of which (Dean Won't Tell) is probably the piece I'm the most proud of - which makes me wonder if I should go more that way next! But yes, more time to read!
So hurry up and finish another fic so I can read it ;)!!
