Sonnet #2

Mar 16, 2007 23:20

There was a time that you loved me for me
But now your hair is cut and dyed to black.
Your eyes sing other songs of love to free
Some other heart that needs a love to hack
Its walls to vulnerable states of grace
To see new light where blackness once had glown;
Not quite the same eyes rest inside his face
That my eyes had once so lovingly shown.
You blinked and I had vanished in thin air;
I blinked and you were lying in my bed.
Take not a notice to a lone man's stare
He's not had time enough to clear his head.
A gambler's debt whose payment is too great;
Upon his heart he bleeds but much too late.
