So, I made it out the the Wildflower Center (www.wildflower.org) for things to take over my own little space here at the condo. The vendors weren't only from the wildflower center itself, but also some other groups from the area. I ended up talked quite a bit to the ladies of the Williamson County Native Plant society (NPOTS or something), and they were very helpful. However, in my usual state of not-quite preparedness, I have been wanting a particular little flower that I see by the side of the road. I tried to describe it, "little white lily or onion looking flowers that are usually just by the side of the road", and no one had any idea what I was talking about. (They are growing on the median in the road on the way out, so maybe someone else will see them!) Anyway, this wonderful lady looked at me, and said "I'm sorry, I just really don't know what you're talking about.", and then in a stage whisper that three other people could hear, "You should just go dig some up!".
I totally want to be one of those ladies. So, if you see me on the side of Burnet road, digging up the yard next to one of those disregarded parking lots, you know that I haven't lost my mind. I'm just respecting and living the example of my betters!
