If there had to be just one reason why you should watch Sengoku BASARA, it would be this...
Yeah, that's Date Masamune's horse.
More people should be watching this series. It's insane and irreverant and full of epic manly fights and Engrish battlecrys. There are some incredible horses (not just the one above, but also a pair of horses that were ridden up a vertical castle wall with a man standing astride their backs) and I also think it has the best OP this season. Opinions seem to be pretty polarised on this one - it's either hated or loved for its over-the-top nature.
I think you should all watch it, though. And then come and fangirl Date with me.
Anyway, some
screencaps and videos and stuff to add to my persuasive power.

The OP. Truly epic. Has dancing feudal soldiers.
Our hero (?), Date Masamune.
Date's fight with Sanada Yukimura.
Date with Kojuro.
IT MUST...
BE...
LOVE.
So stern, GUH.
And also delightfully bitchy.
Date tells Keiji to "Go try somewhere else, loverboy."
I adored the entirety of Date and Kojuro's conversation here.
Kojuro is saying "I've been your comrade since our first battle, I am your right eye, I am here, and I will not leave."
And with that, Date regains his fighting spirit and they ride off to do battle with Oda Nobunaga.

From the game; Date Masamune's introduction. No subtitles, but someone translated it in the comments, so...
Kojuro: Lord Masamune, I, Kojuro, will open the path... So please escape from here!
Masamune: Ha! Don't say such a stupid thing! Let's show them! (ENGRISH!)
Kojuro: Huh, damn... What a troublesome person he is!
Kojuro: Don't let off your guard down, Lord Masamune!
Masamune: Ah? I thought YOU got my back?
Kojuro: Of course! I, Kojuro, already chose to die by protecting you!
Masamune: Well said, Kojuro!
Masamune: Come along with me! Now don't you get hurt!
I think if one of them got hurt, the other would find it quite hard to deal with.
As most people are probably aware, these characters are based on real historical figures of the Sengoku Period. Date Masamune lost the sight in his right eye as a child and is rumoured to have asked Kojuro to gouge it out for him (this shouldn't delight me as much as it does...). Date seemed to have had a tough yet fascinating life - so interesting that I'm considering hunting around for a non-fiction book about the events of the time. He was condemned by his own mother as unfit to lead the clan due to his missing eye; his mother later attempted to poison him and he was forced to kill his brother in order to gain power. His father was also killed later by Date's troops after he was kidnapped, ordering Date's men to kill the enemy no matter what the cost was.
Anyway, I'm just pulling all of this information from the Wikipedia article, but it's really interesting and I want to know more.

This fanvid covers the worst of Date's past. I can't vouch for historical accuracy (!), but it certainly is angsty enough for my tastes.

And finally a really cute fanvid with some Date/Kojuro moments to finish things up.
This turned into a huge post, oops. Can't wait for episode four!
