Justification of indulgence.

I do feel obliged to quote
Bitzy from a few days ago:Well, McCain did it. He got everybody in the media to stop talking about Barack. Instead, it's all a righteous flurry against his VP pick. Where's the coverage about Obama and Biden, huh? Pretty darn silent all of a sudden, wouldn't you say?

McCain knew exactly what he was doing, people. And now, by constantly discussing how hateful she is, all over, you are doing exactly what he wants you to do.

I'm not talking about it anymore, and ignoring posts that do discuss it. I'm focusing on the things that matter to me, not whether or not she's hidden pregnancies or dropped racial slurs or misused eBay.

Ignore her and she will go away. S'all I'm saying. Turn your back on this crap, guys, and remember what this election is really all about. Don't let them distract you with dirty circus politics. (Although now I'm picturing McCain as Billy Flynn and Palin as Roxie Hart singing "Razzle Dazzle" and it's amusing as fuck at this time of the morning.)
Mostly because it's always worth considering ignoring the ignorant hatemongers in the world, focusing instead on how brilliant their counterparts are.

I can't say I'm following this advice. Not because I think there is merit to highlighting inconsistencies and problems in one side's politics, but also because I'm a terrible terrible person. And I'm not a US citizen.

British politics is boring. No matter what
Mat Bowles says, it is. The nearest thing we have to a Creationist "feminism doesn't mean what you think it means" "white-rich-women have everything" "motherhood is a professional qualification, no rly" mockable figure is Cherie Blair, and she's not nearly as fun. Maybe we should encourage Kate Middleton to go into politics. She could legalise foxhunting with military helicopters, it'd be awesome.

If McCain actually gets elected, it won't be funny any more, but then I'll have four years to cower in fear and xenophobia.Right now, I'm going to carry on relishing the chance to point and mock and hate over the next few weeks, milk it for all its worth.

Sorry, USians.

politics, america
