Checked in, about 2hrs 40mins before departure, which is nice. International departures from Gatwick appear unaffected but I did share the train down here with a lovely couple of ex-BA staff who were desperately trying to get flights back to Edinburgh (I grew up on it, so I know; staff travel is nice but when something goes wrong they'll happily screw you over to help the paying customers)

The only moment so far today with "OMG they won't let me fly" was pre-check-in security.

"What's that written on your bag? That's not your name."
"No, it's my flatmate's."
(sharp intake of breath) "And what's his nationality. That's a forn name."
"Greek."

Coupled with the fact that I only have two months on my passport and apparently some form parts won't have you in the last six months. To which: WHY DON'T THEY TELL US THAT? I assume the fixed date is the date at which I can't travel. *grumbles*

ANYWAY I'm here, safely, and for once not carrying any replica weapons. Though I am not dressed for convenient travel through security, given the belt and the boots.

- talking of replica weapons and all the talk of Millicon right now - the V&A sell foam child's 'replica' Samurai armour. That's my costume sorted out, then.
(It's either that or standing in a bucket in a corner. I haven't ruled that out either.)
