Oh, internet crazies ♥

sms_to_lj? has for many years provided a vaguely buggy way for Britons to update LJ through the medium of text message. I haven't felt the need to use it since the last time it stopped working for me, but I kept the community friended just in case I felt the need again.

Yesterday the maintainer posted this, the original text of which read:

Please note: that if you are a member of the Communication WorkersUnion (CWU), the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers(RMT) or any similar trade union you are, from this date onward, nolonger permitted to use any of the free services offered by the X11 SMSGateway, including but not limited to sms_to_lj.

To clarify: IF YOU ARE A MEMBER OF A TRADE UNION, YOU ARE PROHIBITED FROM USING THIS SERVICE
The comments contain the usual few people going 'bzuh'? Someone asking how he intends to enforce it (he doesn't) and this gem:

In the spirit of the whole thing, I am coming out in solidarity and notusing this service. Er, not that I have for a long time, but anyway. Ialso urge anyone concerned with workers' rights to do the same, andwill be carrying out a virtual picket line around the borders of thecommunity, waving a non-existent placard.
The crazy people are everywhere, aren't they?
