And here I stay, at least for a while.

I know you all worry about me when I'm moving between countries, so let me just say that yes, I arrived at 5 o'clock this morning with no problems whatsoever.

That's assuming you don't count in your definition of 'problem' fairly bad turbulence, the fact this flight wasn't one of the "selected flights" on which The Science of Sleep  was playing, and that then they started accidentally playing the "from the UK" selection, teasing me with the possibility of the Illusionist.

In the end I watched Black Dahlia  and Idlewild

About halfway through Black Dahlia I realised that Josh Hartnett was having sex with Hilary Swank in a hotel room, having picked her up in a lesbian bar, and I had no idea why.
I later had a very similar problem when I saw Judge Doom from Who Framed Roger Rabbit (unfortunately not Christopher Lloyd) slit a man's throat. Not the slightest idea what was going on.
I did get the impression (though seeing the trailer beforehand helped) that Hilary Swank was supposed to be the spitting image of Mia Kirshner, which of course she rather isn't, bearing a much more striking resemblance to another cast member, Jemima Rooper. Shouldn't really be a problem, except that when Jemima Rooper (who looks like Hilary Swank) is in a porn movie with Mia Kirshner (who doesn't look like Hilary Swank), it's rather easy to get confused over who's supposed to look like Hilary Swank.
Anyway, it was a rather pretty movie, but I still have no idea what was going on, which leads me to this conclusion:
Black Dahlia should never be watched by people a) on a plane  b) being offered or trying to consume drinks, and/or dinner, c) surrounded by excitable children, d) with Attention Deficit Disorder or e) all of the above.

Idlewild is a musical film set in prohibition-era, um... OK, it's set somewhere in America during the Prohibition era. And there's songs, into which the characters break into fairly randomly a la Disney. Again, it's pretty to watch, and the choreography by Hinton Battle (the American Cat and Sweet, to me) was pretty good.
The most telling thing I can say about this movie is at the end they didn't all break out into a rousing chorus of (a hip hop version of) You Give a Little Love.Which I feel counts against it.

I probably should have slept on the plan, but I didn't really feel tired. So instead when I got back the the parentals at 6.30, I took a cup of hot chocolate and retired to nap for a couple of hours. And woke up at 2pm. Bugger. But I have managed to do all (3 loads worth) of my laundry, and unpacked and repacked for returning to Nodnol... tomorrow properly, which is nice.

amurderofcrows? I tried to send you something, but Amazon borked up on me. So I'll look for something else for you, honestly. <3.

One last thing, thanks to matgb; dm_of_the_rings. I read through the archive yesterday and today and it had me continually laughing out loud and reciting bits to a rather confused, not being a tabletop geek like me, Bing. Much love for it.
