Well despite being blown off for the third time in as many weeks by a mate i actually ended up having quite a productive weekend. Spring is here which means it's time to venture into the garage again and start repairing the damage winter has done to the car! Quite honestly all things considered thecar has faired very well this winter. Rust is at a minimum thankfully. I lost a radiator due to the fan throwing a blade straight through said radiator, however Andy helped me out with a spare 4 core he had. The engine stabaliser bar bushes ate themselves, the ultimate head steady is not so ultimate apperently as it snapped in two, the door seals were fucked beyond any usable capacity, the central/remote locking packed up, my sealed beams were on their last legs and my rear camber/tracking brackets were fucking usless. Quite a lot afterall.
So a phonecall to minisport later and new door seals, rear fully adjustable camber/tracking brackets, steady bar bushes and ultimate head steady were winging their way to my door, unfortunatly they sent a UHS for a injection model so thats been set back and i'm still waiting for it too arrive. Triangular Auto supplied me with a rather well set of halogens to replace the sealed beams.
So onto this weekend. Saturday i got my old, i say old - they're under 12 months old and they're fucked already, minibitz fitted them, and they snapped. Typical minibitz, not that i've got anything against them, other than they're shit! So anyway i got them off and the new ones offered up, a much better fit than the minispares ones. I also got the door seals on, the steady bar bushes on and the interior cleaned up.
Today i got out my soldering iron out and repaired some wiring on the central/remote door locking and installed the alarm so she's all secure now and up to date with the doors opening via a key fob :D the alarmis fooking loud as well. While I was at it i sorted out and tidyed up the spotlight wiring. Topped up all the fluids and checked the tyres. Last to come was finishing the rear brackets.Left untillast because they were likely to be an arse, they were! The left one was the right took forever due to sheared captive nuts you can't get too. Much drilling and tapping ensued until eventually i got three of the 4 bolts in. That willhave to do for now.
Next on the list is a new windowscreen and seal as mine are shite. Some new rear plates as my rear brake adjusters are seized - compromising my stopping power. Some new wiper arms. New shocks. Get my camber and tracking setup. Get the 1330/1380 engine built. Rolling roaded. Then the carbon fibre quest begins. Oh and keep saving for the MR2. Now for some pics...
