Glee Rewatch 2014: 100

Dec 08, 2014 16:06

Things that happened:
  • To memorialise the Glee club, Schue has brought everyone back to Lima for a week of regurgitating songs that they've already done. Also, April is back and is trying to save the club. She almost does it when she indicts the 2 million dollars that she gave the glee club, but it turns out that Will has blown through the budget in two years. Even when Holly Holliday shows up, the club is still dead.
  • Quinn has a new boyfriend. He's very rich and pretentious and she's basically been lying about her entire life. Puck is pretty angry about that. The truth eventually comes out, the boyfriend is chased off, and Puck and Quinn get back together.
  • Brittany is under a lot of pressure after discovering that she is a mathematical genius. She's hating her life and Santana is worried about her, so she tries to get her to relax a little bit.
  • Mercedes and Rachel have struck up their rivalry once more and perform Defying Gravity to see who's the better singer. After getting chewed out by Santana, Rachel is very hurt and she and Mercedes make up for good.
Sporadic thoughts while watching:
1. This episode was so unsatisfying considering all the hype surrounding it.
2. 100 lessons? That's the excuse they're going with to have the lesson on the board? Considering they have at least three lessons a week, that's literally like thirty weeks of Glee club. Which is less than one full school year. Weak.
3. Sigh. Hi, April. I mean, always good to see Miss Chenoweth, but... sigh.
4. "She once taught me how to shoplift meat in my vagina." Marley's face.
5. "HONK." #littleklainethings
6. Warblers did so much better at this song.
7. Toxic is so goddamn sexy, hot damn ladies.
8. You know, I legitimately don't think there's time in the day to be a full time waitress, full time student AND play the lead in a major Broadway revival. Like, just hours-wise I don't think it's possible.
9. Mercedes is a really good dancer, HA. Shout out, Amber...
10. OH MY GOD OKAY LET ME RAGE ABOUT DEFYING GRAVITY FOR A MINUTE.
11. So we all know that this song belongs to Kurt, right? Like, if DROMP is Rachel's then Defying Gravity is Kurt's anthem through and through. We all KNOW that. If they were going to do a second version of the song, then it should have been about Kurt, or he shouldn't have been in it at all. This weird thing where he was there but he was completely inconsequential just completely pushes aside the importance that this song has to his character and I just - ugh. Ugh, ugh, ugh.
12. I mean, I cannot even tell you how angry this scene made me when I first watched it. I was so excited, and then by the end I was actually fuming. Oh my god.
13. And we didn't even get the solo versions. :(
14. (I do love that he is basically Charlie Brown in tight pants.)
15. "That song should be on the Broadway!" I'm sure I don't need to explain exactly why this is so funny.
16. That dress of Santana's might be my favourite of hers ever? It's stunning.
17. Oh I have missed my Klaine, even if it's only a tiny scene. <3
18. Eeee, look at my boys being freaking dorks in the back of Valerie.
19. Keep Holding On is possibly the only song in this episode that hits the nostalgic feeling they were going for.
20. "I'm crying because until you sang that song, I had actually forgotten about it." Oh, Quinn.
21. When Santana gets going and Kurt's just like 'whyyyyyyy'.
22. My headcanon is that the 'stubble' left in the sink is actually Santana's leg hair and she put it there JUST to frame Rachel. Because 'we all know it wasn't Kurt'.
23. Okay, but can Rachel and Mercedes PLEASE be done with the competition and just be friends now? Please? Because that scene was lovely.
24. Will spent two MILLION dollars in two years, what the fuck.
25. And then he goes and blames April like she was lying to him? You're the one who spent the fucking money, Will.
26. "I'm torn; one is black and one is Jewish."
27. There's an odd number of people voting and it was still a tie - therefore, someone must have voted for neither of them. I'm looking at you, Blaine. (No, seriously, it should have been like, 'Yes, they've chosen and neither of you won. Kurt, where you at?')
28. Kurt was missing and then he just randomly shows up for Happy?
29. I'm glad that Quinn finally got to say goodbye to Finn.
30. That Brittana kiss is damn hot.
31. Quick has been dormant for like three years and now it's suddenly like I'M BACK MOTHERFUCKERS.
32. Poor Kurt and Rachel were hit pretty hard by those plaques.
33. And - okay, let me just be annoyed at how they ended this on a cliffhanger... which doesn't end up going anywhere at all.
