Glee Rewatch 2014: Puppet Master
Things that happened:
1. That is a poisonous color scheme, Blaine. Also, his clipboard is all about being inspiring and kind and stuff, which is very cute and also a little ironic.
2. Blaine Jong Il oh my god.
3. Diva Blaine makes his first appearance in a while...
4. "Looks like somebody's manstrating."
5. That shirt is fantastic on Kurt. All steampunky clockwork machinery-esque. Very cool. (And, um, pants.)
6. Rachel, you cutie.
7. "I disagree, Dani!" Her FACE.
8. The harmonies in Into the Groove are so fucking good.
9. Was Demi sick when they did this episode? Is that why she's featured so little in this song?
10. Blaine so does not want to hear any kind of reason. His entire being can basically be summed up with 'UGH'.
11. Considering the theme, is Kurt the puppet master of his own story?
12. Sue really does not look at all like a man. And also - the show's biggest villain now has an origin story!
13. Aw, poor Brad.
14. Blaine is an actual brat when he's in a bad mood.
15. And also, he apparently makes friends with the invisible people. (The 'furniture'.)

17. Okay, so, most of this is about the fact that Blaine really wants to feel appreciated, BUT it's also about the fact that he is USED to being appreciated. Blaine's conceit and cockiness from his Warbler days has certainly waned the longer we know him and the more complex he becomes, but it is still there. He is, frankly, used to getting what he wants, and when he doesn't - well. He throws a temper tantrum.
18. So, like... was he having that fantasy while Brad was in the room?
19. 'You're my best friend' - when you're puppets that I can manipulate whenever I want.
20. Do yourself a favour... and have a bath? No seriously, am I the only one that was reminded of that?
21. Nasty / Rhythm Nation is pretty badass.
22. "It's a puppet... of my... fiance?" Actually the cutest.
23. "In this argument, I don't have a leg to stand on!" Jesus fucking Christ.
24. Sue is already six foot, and those heels look at least four inch. Poor Blainey is dwarfed.

30. Real Kurt asks if Blaine is okay - the attacks only come when he turns into a puppet. So Kurt is concerned about Blaine, and probably also rightly angry that Blaine wasn't even going to tell him that he couldn't come, but the kind of the things that the puppet said are Blaine's own insecurities turned back on him.

32. Porcelain, the sassy toothless elf. Is Sue's favourite gay.
33. They're in detention for eight hours?!
34. Blaine... are you okay? I mean seriously man, you are so fucking weird. You're actually going a little crazy this episode. (I'm wondering - is this surfacing of his controlling tendencies related to his reunion with Kurt? Because Kurt is also a very controlling person (though in a different way - Blaine controls people while Kurt controls his surroundings), so it might well have dragged it up out of Blaine in response.)

36. He made like 20 puppets, what the fuck Blaine. He even made one for Elliott and Dani! Has he even met them?
37. Remind me to find that meta I came across that said that Kurt was the Fox. He's goes 'silent' (doesn't sing) periodically. Getting rejected from NYADA triggered it last season, and now probably Finn's death has triggered it here. Hmm.

- Blaine is becoming very bossy in the face of Nationals. His fellow glee club members are not particularly amused. It turns into this who existential crisis thing about how Blaine needs to be in control all the time.
- Kurt has booked a gig for his band at Callbacks. His band members are also not particularly amused, but he drags them along anyway. Too bad there's only one guy in the audience. But they manage to book a second gig, so all is well.
- Sue is in line to become full time principal at the school. She has a crush on one of the supervisors, but he thinks she's a man, so she goes a way to appear more feminine. But he doesn't want to go out with her anyway, so.
- There's a gas leak in the choir room and people are having fantasies. Sue imagines herself dancing with Schuester. Blaine imagines all his friends as puppets that he can order around.
- Jake is having some trouble with Bree, who is pregnant. Only she's not. But she breaks it off with him anyway. Also, he has this whole fantasy about doing a badass dance number and stuff.
