Yes, I've been sick since yesterday. I also have been absent from school for two days too. (And this time, I have a valid, legal MC to go with it.)
It started on Sunday night, early Monday morning while I lay asleep. Or tried to. I was sweating cold sweat and I was burning an even higher temperature than normal. Mind you, I've been known to be more warm than normal but this time, it was stifling. I could not even open my eyes when my dad tried to wake me up. Funnily enough, he let me be this time instead of continuously hollering at me to get up.
So I slept on until around 11. When I woke up, I was feeling hot and cold at the same time and the cold sweat did not help either. Going downstairs, I quickly told my parents that I was sick. I had complained of a sore throat the previous night and with my fever that morning, alarm bells started going off in my mum's head.
Apparently, the school had called to find out why I was absent. My poor dad, who did not know I was really sick at the time, told my class teacher that I had period pain. -_- My period is not even due for a week or so. So anyway, my parents decided that I should see the doctor. Not now, but later at night. Why? Because our family doctor only operates from 5pm - 9pm. And she lives on the other side of the toll, where we used to live.
Fast forward to after the clinic visit. The doctor said that it was probably just a viral fever. She pumped me up with Vitamin C tablets and gave me Paracetamol, cough syrup and some flu pills before shooing me back home with the stern warning to drink gallons of water and to come back instantly if my symptoms gets worse.
Oh I forgot to mention, she also gave me an MC. :)
Today I lazed around the house, trying my best to pick up a book and study. (Trials ring a bell anyone?) I'm still feeling feverish, and still breaking out in cold sweat. I don't know whether I'm up to go to school tomorrow. My symptoms has not exactly gotten worse, but it's not getting better either. It's a stalemate at the moment. Looks like I'll have to discuss this with my parents.
So yeah, I might be sick, but it sure is not swine flu. Yet. Hopefully not. From what I read of Zainal Alam Kadir's column in the Malay Mail, it seems to be a very painful experience. And the fact that one has to be quarantined ALONE for THREE days in a hospital where everyone treats you like you have the bulbonic plague or something. -___-
I miss school. I miss my Monkeys. I miss the teachers. I miss studying in a classroom environment. I even miss the homework.
