When we are children we are filled with an excitement to explore the vast unknown which we see in front of us, which is the nature of reality, the nature of everything.

Later we are adults, and our realm becomes narrower as we feel that we understand more and more and attain ever more orientation. We believe we have a good handle on the way things work and that there's not so much left to discover or work out.

This, actually, is a delusion. The truth is there is so much to comprehend that the advances we make, while they might be significant to us, do not measure up in the context of the grandeur of the actual big picture. We may feel more secure, in all our cowardice, in our small habitation, but it is actually a sham.

The wondrous vastness is not in fact behind us, but rather it will always be in front of us.
