Wallace Stevens

The focus this week was Wallace Stevens and the Idea of Order in Key West. Stevens approaches his poetry with romanticism as wel as modernist thoughts. The Idea of Order in Key West was this marriage between the two key terms. Key West, the most southern point of the U.S, is a place where some people would say you can see the end of the earth. This poem deals a lot with the promise of having order, or creation within key west, which is a place filled with lonliness and solitude. The poem also has a romantic and love side to it if one were to make images out of the piece, makes you feel the idea of love, compassion and strong lust. It is a poem about the poet and his poem, the way the poem orders the world. This poem has a way of looking beyond reality and using imagination.
I find it interesting to read this piece, makes you question your own reality and the world in which you exist, or maybe if thats also an idea or concept...it confuses you and makes you think a lot about life in a way you never thought to think about!!
Amazing piece I must say!!!
