And sometimes I deal with the junk going on in my life/my head/whatever by going to the coffee shop at the bookstore, burning my hand, and writing a short flailing!Horatio bit. Complete with pretentious French title. Yes

I never read stuff that hasn't got dialogue - not in fanfic, not in books - but I am so glad I made an exception for this. The last sentence in particular is lovely, but then so much of this piece is.
I think this is now one of my favorite pieces that you've written. I've never thought of Horatio being quite so passionate. And it seems Horatio cannot see himself as such either - thus he torments himself over these feelings he can not quite understand...No less than raving, than madness, that, brought out by him and your strange need for him, the heat and pressure under your skin that only he seems to summon and only he can calm.
He is not afraid, and you envy him that, the surety you seem to find nowhere except in commanding your division. And even there, the surety is only in the heat of the moment, and deserts you before and after.
I just love these lines because I feel they are a perfect summation of Horatio. We see in the films his fear and uncertainty; the constant questioning of his abilities when left to his own thoughts when there is not some crisis or battle to occupy him. It makes sense that he would apply that same sense of introspection, self-doubt, and internal torment to his personal relationships as well.
Oh, thank you! That's what I was trying to get across, it's so nice to know that it made it through. :) He overthinks EVERYTHING. I don't think he knows how NOT to. (Not that I know how that works, or anything...::cough::)
