The Luminaries, Eleanor Catton. I enjoyed this book, but it's a bit oddly structured and there's some confusion about genre. You have to be prepared for a shift partway. It's set during the New Zealand gold rush, there are Chinese and Maori characters who get solid POV time, but also period casual racism.
