shonna tucker and eye candy in ashland, va 10,31,13

This was a nice, tiny show! Shonna looks fantastic and sounds great, even though seven years after
likeadeuce and I started seeing her in concert, she STILL can't mic herself so her voice can be heard properly over the guitars. SHONNA.

Johnny Neff has grown a douchebag mullet and still plays pedal steel like an angel. Funniest moment was definitely after the show, when he was chatting with the audience and someone kept asking him about Truckers-adjacent people, and he finally said "We haven't... exactly stayed in touch." Ha ha, no, I bet you haven't. [John quit the Truckers via an e-mail and a Facebook post the day before they were booked for a three-night run of shows. Patterson was Not Amused. I suspect John is not on the Truckers holiday card list anymore.]

The other guys in the band... exist, IDK. The new songs are nice and the covers were great ("Strawberry Wine"! "Lonely Women Make Good Lovers"!). I bought a copy of the CD and a tote bag, because I wanted to support Shonna. That turned into a farce where their credit card reader wouldn't work and I had to go find a 7-11 with an ATM, but Shonna was really sweet and apologetic. I listened to the CD on the drive home and I like it a lot, even though I still can't understand all the lyrics (my stupid auditory processing problems) and so I'm not sure if one song is about child molestation and another one is about a couple kidnapping a pregnant teenager so they can steal her baby... ?

Anyway! Good show. Long drive. Telecommuting today so I can be a potato on the couch. \o/
