#71: Netherland, Joseph O'Neill. Um. This book was...it's like there was a good book inside it trying to get out, but the interesting story was framed through the perspective of an emotionally numb guy going through marital trouble, and somehow that ended up being the story instead of the interesting stuff about a brilliant, ethically questionable Trinidadian immigrant trying to build an international cricket stadium in New York. Protip, dude: your wife left you because you suck. The end. (And then when she takes him back she ACTUALLY SAYS it's because she feels responsible for him and doesn't think he should be alone, which, OH MY GOD, SERIOUSLY, FOR REAL, ETC)

I've been screaming about the Penn State shitshow on Twitter and Facebook. I can't believe we apparently need to introduce a multiple-choice test for basic human behavior.

QUESTION: If you see a man raping a child, what do you do?
a) say Hey, what the fuck, get off that kid! and then call the police
b) hit him with the nearest large object
c) tell your boss and hope someone else will take care of it
d) my answer depends on whether or not college football is involved

QUESTION: If it is reported to you that one of your employees is raping children, what do you do?
a) call the police
b) hit him with the nearest large object
c) hope someone else will take care of it
d) my answer depends on whether or not college football is involved

Hint, if you answer C or D to either question, you are a horrible human being and I hope you never sleep through the night again.
