three disconnected bits of me-ness

Oct 05, 2011 08:34

1. I'm enjoying the book I'm reading (99 cent special on Kindle! WHOO!), but I kind of thought something called The Hangman's Daughter might be about...the hangman's daughter, not about the hangman and the douchey town doctor and a murder mystery. I hope this ends with the doctor falling in a hole. Also, why are douchey doctors always named Simon? I can't NOT picture him as played by Sean Maher.

2. Sometimes I listen to "Fool Like Me" and it suddenly hits me that the narrator (GABRIEL) is "a grown-ass man," but the object of his affection still lives with her parents and they answer the phone for her. So. That's a teenager, then. GABRIEL.

3. Last night, on the phone with my mom:
::talking about whatever. Dad's voice in the background::
Mom: Your father wants to know if you've been going to those protests you've been linking about on Facebook.
Me: ...they're in New York.
Mom: He wants to know if you've been protesting.
Me: I don't live in New York?
Mom: So you're just learning about how to avoid getting arrested for no reason?
Me: It was an interesting article.
Mom: She just thinks it's interesting, honey.
Me: There was one in DC a few weeks ago and I was thinking about going...but then I overslept that morning.
Mom: ::starts laughing::
Me: Yeah, I know. I am the most bourgeois.
Mom: You are so my daughter.
