Jeremy wanted to make the most of his days off work, and he figured living in the moment couldn't be that bad a prospect, right? He wasn't a complete stick in the mud nerd who didn't know how to have fun, and if he was honest with himself, he found himself really, really enjoying his chats with Quinn ever since he bumped into her in Hyde Park. He didn't know where he got the courage to get in touch and ask if she wanted to stay the night in Brighton with him, but he did. They were both single, and if there were no other plans, why not? They were adults, they could do shit like that if they felt the urge, right? Right.
He had picked her up from the modest home that belonged to her baby daddies, and they drove down to Brighton, and Jeremy thought it was awesome they managed to get a nice sunny day for the journey. They arrived in Brighton with a couple of hours daylight to spare of Valentine's Day, so he suggested a walk along the beach to get ice cream to make the most of it. She seemed just a little distracted with something, and he didn't want to be a butt pain and interrogate her about it. He would just roll with it, and if she wanted to talk about anything, again, he could listen.
Paying the ice cream vendor, he tucked the change back into his pocket and picked up the two strawberry sundaes to bring them back over where Quinn was sitting on a bench a short distance from Brighton Pier. He held one out to her with a grin and then licked some syrup off the edge of his pinkie as he dropped down beside her. "Okay, I have a confession," he admitted as he set his ice cream on the bench beside him and started to search around in his messenger bag. He pulled out a
Valentine's teddy and a single red rose in a cellophane tube with a sheepish grin. "I kinds actually really love Valentine's Day, and seeing as I get to spend it with a gorgeous girl, there was no way I could let her go without receiving something. It's a Love Bug! I saw it this morning and couldn't not get it. Happy Single's Awareness Day," he told her with a grin.
