dear author letter: Rare Pair Fest
Dear Author,
First of all, thank you for writing me a fic, trust me, I know it’ll be awesome. But let’s get to the point: these are optional details; you are absolutely free to write anything you're comfortable with, so it can be fic with plot or just explicit sex, it's up to you, but please do try to watch out for my squicks. I didn't write exact prompts, so your muse can go nuts, but I scribbled down what I prefer in each fandom.
My general likes:
- I like the darker fics, so you can write any issue fic* I love them. You can write anything which is darker and edgier than the canon, you can write tragedy, unhappy ending, I like to cry.
- What-if AUs, multiple universes, canon divergence, dystopian AUs (I am a sucker for these, really).
- Bittersweet ending, angst, hurt/comfort.
*Issue fic: not a preachy fic about something, but exploring issues with fandom characters (depression, self-harm, mental illnesses, etc.)
My absolute squicks:
I know there is a small chance for these, but please try to not include these..
- Watersport, scat, necrophilia, somnophilia, pedophilia, bestiality.
- Miscarriage. I know I asked for a fandom where this is canon, and I don't mind reading about going through the emotional trauma, but the actual miscarriage is a real trigger for me. So even if you include it, please don't write about it in details.
My dislikes:
- Curtain fic, domestic fic, so fluffy it hurts. (If you are one of those writers who can only write fluff, then go with it, don't try to write anything else. I occasionally enjoy the all is well, everyone is happy fics.:))
- All human AUs, coffee shop!AU and such.
Revolution (Sebastian/Charlie, Miles/Charlie, Sebastian/Charlie/Miles)
Yay, this show is my current obsession and these three characters are my love, and yes, I adore Charlie too (I know, I am in the minority), so a little Charlie worshiping is always okay. I see Charlie as a strong, determined character who faces the dark side of the world only now, who would do anything for family and the people she cares about, I see her as the light in this dark world, while Miles and Sebastian are broken - if it's beyond repair and redemption is up to you, I can see it both ways - and that's why I ship both of them with Charlie. I can see both men appreciating everything good and innocent and yet strong in Charlie. As I mentioned, I can see them as redeemable, yes, even Monroe, but I like the darker things too, so you can give me torture, rape, emotional manipulation, brainwashing, all the gruesome things, I can even picture Charlie and (obviously Miles) as a dark character, joining to the Militia. And Charlie's newfound obsession and hatred for Monroe is fascinating, so you can explore that in a twisted love-hate kind of way.
Arrow (Oliver/Thea, Oliver/Felicity, John/Oliver/Felicity)
Oliver/Thea: I absolutely LOVE their chemistry, so I'd be happy with anything. When did their relationship started? Before or after the island? What do they mean to each other? How do they cope with the, you know, incestuous thing? If you feel up to it, you can write about how Thea finds out about Oliver's secret identity, and I'd really like to see Thea as Oliver's sidekick. (Bonus point for hot training scene.)
Oliver/Felicity: I love their chemistry too, I love how Felicity still defies Oliver and pulls him back from his isolation. I'm a sucker for undercover work where they're pretending to be a couple and real feelings get to acknowledged or people assuming they're dating because they spend too much time together.
John/Oliver/Felicity: Same as above, but I like their team dynamic and how Oliver doesn't really see that though he thinks he can't connect to people and his family, he have them. Really anything goes.
The Vampire Diaries (Elijah/Elena, Klaus/Elena, Kol/Elena, Elijah/Elena/Klaus, Klaus/Elena/Kol):
I adore Elena, she is my favorite character, I see her as someone who lost so much, but tries to get up, even if she's struggling with depression and hard stuffs. I see her as some kind of magical glue, because she tries to see the good in everyone and tries to fix them and make them happy. That's why I ship her with almost everyone.
With Elijah: Elijah clearly has a soft spot for the Petrova girls, and I honestly think that even in the canon Elijah is already in love with Elena. Elena is everything he misses about being human: she is kind of the epitome of humanity with her empathy. Also they are both give up anything for family, and Elijah admires her courage and determination. I think it's a lovely and healthy relationship.
With Klaus: Klaus has a thing with Petrova girls too, but with a completely different tone than Elijah. I see human!Klaus as somewhat like human!Damon as in hopelessly in love with the original Petrova, while dealing with his abusive parents and the sibling rivalry. I see Klaus as a redeemable evil, though I love the cruel and abusive portrayals of him too, he can go both ways. I think with Katherine he just focused on breaking the curse, and unlike Elijah, he had no feelings for her, but Elena could soften his heart with her aforementioned qualities. I love that Klaus and Elena's lives are bond with this curse, that Klaus is haunted by the face of her first love. I'd read absolutely anything with them. The fic can be dark with emotional manipulation, even rape.
With Kol: We didn't get to know Kol much, I picture him as the other Originals, someone who was betrayed and used by his own parents and cursed with this immorality. Kol is a destructive person who loves to enjoy his undead life, and though I can see him loving Elena, I can only picture it as a destructive and wrong kind of love. I think he is the most coldest Original, so I don't see much chance for redemption. I'D READ ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING.
Threesome/Moresome: My favorite is Klaus/Elena/Elijah, I see it as a more mature version of Stefan/Elena/Damon. Though any variation of Originals with Elena is more than welcomed. Hell, I can even see Elena with all of them, like a happy-dysfunctional family.
Once Upon a Time (Hook/Regina, Hook/Regina/Emma, Ruby/Belle, Whale/Ruby)
Hook/Regina: I started shipping them when Hook had his speech about revenge is ending, so I'd like to see anything with them as they redeem themselves. I would prefer a post-finale story and both of them on the good side, they deserve some happy times. :D
Hook/Regina/Emma: They're my absolute OT3 in this fandom. I always loved Emma/Regina and their enemy/hero rivalry, and how Emma is the only one who can see Regina as something else than the Evil Queen. And I loved Hook/Emma as soon as we discovered that they're kindred spirit with the lost loves and broken hearts and their habit to distance themselves from others. And when I started ship Hook/Regina, my three favorite characters connected in a nice way, they complete each other as Emma being the "savior." I'd be happy with anything, but a post-finale fic would be especially lovely.
Ruby/Belle: I'd love to see Belle and Ruby getting closer after Emma and co. left them in Storybrooke.
Whale/Ruby: I was so happy to see Whale's character growing and I'm glad the writers decided to explore his depths too. I'd like to see how Whale is trying to deal with his two selves (because his cursed self seemed a non-caring bastard, while his real self is deeply loving) and how he's dealing with the fact that he may be falling for Red Riding Hood.
Dragons: Riders of Berk (Toothless/Hiccup, Astrid/Heather, Alvin/Valhallarama)
In general I like to see the adult side of the fandom, so while I enjoy it as a cartoon, I'd like to imagine in fics the kid heroes as young adult or adults. This said I'd read anything about this (I know I have zero chance for these ships, but maybe I'll find a kindred spirit.)
Toothless/Hiccup: As stated in my dislikes, I only read this as non-bestiality, so I'd prefer anthro, human or shapeshifter!Toothless. The reason why I ship them is that I don't see Toothless as someone with animal mind (see in the books they're pretty much humans), and their bond is so strong they always choose each other over everyone else. (Which yes, screams unhealthy but strong love to me.)
Astrid/Heather: Astrid and Heather had a nice story arc from enemies to kind of friends, and the intense emotions, the hate-stalk things and then Astrid finally admitting she was wrong and saving Heather absolutely sold me this ship. They really changed each other's lives as opposed to the canon pairings.
Alvin/Valhallarama: I know it seems pure crack, but in the books Alvin made his own arch-nemesis, Hiccup. And when we saw Alvin in the cartoon he said to Stoick he takes what he wants, which sparked the idea of not Alvin killing Valhallarama, but being Hiccup's real father. And the scenes where Alvin wants so desperately Hiccup on his side just made my headcanon solider.
