life in a list
1. school is kicking my butt..lesson plans/reading methods/writing techniques...I love it!
2. this past weekend 8 of us english ed. majors travelled down to Nashville for the 2008 YALSA Young Adult Literature Symposium. TONS of fun! and books and handouts and pamphlets and ideas. my brain is still trying to store everything! I attended the following:
Listening is Reading: Teens Choose Books Out Loud (I received a free copy of M.T. Anderson's FEED on CD!!)
Paper Presentations (VERY informative..especially the paper presentation about Manga..I wore my hand out copying so many titles)
Fandom, Fan Life, and Participatory Culture (this was fun..but really geared towards librarians not teachers)
Just Keepin' It Real: Teens Reading Out of the Mainstream (again..more titles! we caught a glimpse of Coe Booth and were too shy to introduce ourselves..)
I'll definitely be attending the next one. oh! and we all decided we want to be librarians now.
3. I'm spending the next 2 weeks at Franklin High School observing/teaching 10th grade honors, 10th grade college prep and 11th grade honors students. fun times :)
4. next monday I'll be 22.
5. in two fridays Twilight will be gracing theaters. I'm planning on pre-ordering 8 or 9 tickets. This will be my birthday celebration :)
