The Sins Of The Past Blue-ray Edition!

Shock horror a pice of non fiction!! As a result of my being a meme sheep herein are my musingings and directors commentory on The Sins Of The Past chapters 1&2 the rest are coming later.

Chapter 1: Will I see you tonight?

Oh boy okay, as requested my thoughts and insights (such as they are) on this monster thing. I actually started writing this in the middle and then worked outwards in no particular order so it’s amazing that it turned out as coherent as it did, this short chapter was deliberately written to pose many questions and give no answers as well as setting up the rest of the split time frame aspect of the first half of the story. I needed a way of getting the earth bound ‘Bot’s involved and it made sense that Red would be monitoring every transition he could pick up terrestrial or not for clues as to what the ‘Cons were planning next and so stumbled upon the horrific fate that’s going to be revealed in later chapters.

Chapter 2: Cron

So having waived unspecified horrors in front of the reader I deliberately jumped back in time to start the build up and back story, you need to remember that at this point most mechs don’t have a clue what’s going on here and only Jazz has anything like the full story (and that’s not as full as he thinks it is, but I’m foreshadowing like mad here).

This is how I think of Jazz, head of special ops, a mech with a thousands masks most of which aren’t the sort of person you want to get to close to. As the title of the story hints in my personal cannon Jazz has a very dark past behind him that he’s still running from centuries later, so here he is giving us a lesson in field craft and running slap bang into trouble of the worst kind in the shape of Sync (aka Battle Axe) the leader of my team of Black Ops OC’s.

Sync is older than Kup, has few moral scruples and has no qualms at all about doing the dirtiest, craziest most dubious things in the course of a mission. He and the rest of the crazy gang appeared fully formed and all ready bickering amongst themselves in the course of two or three evenings while I was in a hotel in Stamford CT on a work trip. The trigger for them (and the whole story) was the first movie which I saw on that trip and some not great personal circumstances which had erupted a few months previously although looking back I suspect they were lurking under the surface for many years waiting for their chance.
