This was written for comment_fic today, but it actually exceeds the comment box word limit (oops, good job they're not strict about that) so I'm sticking it here. It's for mahmfic who keeps leaving brilliant prompts. Shame I can't write them all, but I'd love to read them if anyone else feels like heading over there... I live in hope ;)

Hee! This is so much fun. I especially love Jack as the coffee boy who fell through the rift, but everyone was great :)

ETA: Urrm, I'm tired, and I was mostly focusing on Jack up there. I wasn't lumping Tosh's mother in with the hee! fun! part. That was sad, but really well done.

Glad you liked it! It was a fun prompt to write. I really wanted to keep Jack as his fifty-first century self, just with no Time Agency or Doctor, and younger, before those things would have happened. I was wondering how and then though, 'Ah. Rift!' The Torchwood get of jail free card ;)

The problem is that you keep rolling them out and I can't fill 'em all. I need people to fill the rest so I can read them, damnit! Heh.

I was tring to keep the personalities the same as much as possible, just change the jobs, so Ianto would be his smart dressing, practical self, so ties are good > ties that dangly into autopsies not good > clip on tie.

I enjoyed this. I love how everybody is in character, just slightly different in accordance to their positions. Jack amused me the most. (Sprinkles! Canon Ianto would be mortified.) I love that Ianto is oblivious to Jack's crush. And that conversation between Owen and Tosh is fantastic.

I really liked Tosh as leader. She seems to get stuff done.

I wanted to keep their personalities the same, so I'm really pleased you thought that I managed it! Somewhere, somewhen, Jack has visited this alternative universe and said to himself, 'make really prettyful coffee. Ianto will love it. Trust me! Mwhahaha..ahem.'

I figured that Tosh usually gets things done, it's just so much in the background that people don't notice it. Until, say, Daleks show up in the Hub. I think that if she had a little more confidence and was the leader, Torchwood would probably be a lot more efficient.
