Well less of a fic and more of a random thing. Pulled out the old 1sentence themes (used Gamma for this one) for fun and laughter, so have a short fic... thing.

like an angel.
Hijikata + Chi drabblet, The Sky Tides-verse

o1; ring
She couldn't help but wonder about the band of metal that was always around his middle finger - it wasn't anything special, but it'd always be on his finger regardless of the circumstances.

o2; hero
"And once again, the Steel Samurai saves the day!" blared the words from the radio, and the feline only cheered along with her owner who was wearing one of those smiles he'd never show to any other human.

o3; memory
Their first memories hardly was anything too memorable, but the ones after that were something they'd both treasure.

o4; box
It certainly wasn't anything like one, but they were really fun to play with... even if her owner had to go through many of those 'paper bags' in order to keep her occupied while he was busy.

o5; run
While being chased by a certain angry boatswain (for some reason or another), Chi had been well-known to break the land speed record.

o6; hurricane
It rocked and bashed up the ship pretty well when they were hit, but she knew he'd keep her safe despite everything.

o7; wings
Everytime his back was turned to her, she might have believed he had the wings of an angel.

o8; cold
Being in the north was nothing but freezing cold - but somehow, Hijikata could always endure it.

o9; red
"Its actually pink," the boatswain muttered out under his breath in a voice only Chi could hear as they passed by a certain frilly first mate.

o10; drink
After the first time, the cat decided to stay away from Hijikata whenever he got himself drunk - she didn't want to go though the pain of being all squeezed and squashed again now thank you very much.

o11; midnight
He'd work even late until the night - and even still, she'd try and keep him company.

o12; temptation
"No," Hijikata repeated for what had to be the millionth time as she looked up at him with those pleading eyes. This time, the cat was not going to have her way.

o13; view
Hijikata did have to wonder at times how he could be seen as a nice person though her eyes when all he knew was carnage and bloodshed.

o14; music
It was rare of him, but the boatswain did listen to the occasional piece from time to time - and whatever it was, she liked it anyway.

o15; silk
...it was a good thing he rarely wore those cravats.

o16; cover
The human could only sigh in exasperation as the feline ducked into his coat - he was going have to do some explanation for this.

o17; promise
He had made it his duty to care for her until her mother was found - and it was a promise he'd never break.

o18; dream
It was strange, even how when he woke up from the worst of his nightmares, the sight of the feline sleeping with him was more than enough to clam him down.

o19; candle
Whatever Chi said - no, it was most certainly not what he used to smoke.

o20; talent
He really had to stop himself from strangling something when the blasted doctor teased him endlessly about the whole thing - he was not an animal tamer!

o21; silence
In the silence of the night, his quiet breaths were the lullabies that she needed.

o22; journey
The (now former) boatswain was only quiet as he grasped the feline in his lone arm tight and looked towards the deserted Badlands before them - the journey had only begun.

o23; fire
"He'll burn you up if you get close to him," the samurai said blandly, trying not to smirk at the results he would get from this.

As the days turned to months, Chi became the strength he needed in order to carry on.

o25; mask
Even with his mask of indifference on, she could always sense his true feelings.

o26; ice
In the beginning he was as cold as ice, but slowly but surely he warmed up to her.

o27; fall
"We're going to Boston in the fall," was the only reply she would get when the question was asked.

o28; forgotten
As much as he tried to, he could never really forget - but at least he had something to live for now.

o29; dance
Once he saw what the feline was trying to accomplish, Hijikata had known it was a bad idea to have let her read his books (and why did he even agree to it in the first place?)

o30; body
A picture told a thousand words, and even if she didn't know it, the scars that marred his body were more than enough to list down a whole novel.

o31; scared
As long as he was with her, she was never going to be scared of anything.

o32; farewells
The man didn't know if he could ever bring himself to say if he ever found her mother.

o33; world
From the beginning, he had been the integral piece that made her world.

o34; formal
Hijikata swore to kill the assholes who ever suggested that he had a formal wedding with him and the cat - and what the hell did they mean by that, anyway?!

o35; fever
He had no idea that cats could ever get it, but apparently they could.

o36; laugh
If there was just one more idiot who was going to laugh at him...

o37; lies

o38; forever
It took forever and a half before he could finally get her for a bath.

o39; overwhelmed
Despite everything, it really was quite surprising how he was hardly overwhelmed between work and taking care of the residents in his room.

o40; whisper
Sometimes she would find herself abruptly awake by her owner - her owner who would at times twist and turn on his bed, making noises so that only reminded her of fear and a single word would escape from his lips over and over again in whispers, its meaning unknown to her.

o41; wait
She would always be there at the doorstep of his cabin, purring happily once he stepped inside after a day's work.

o42; talk
Most people would have been freaked out by seeing a talking cat - but having lived through the orange furrball, the kitten was hardly anything bad.

o43; search
He tore through the shop once he had discovered she had gone missing - he had a responsibility to take care of her and he would damn well stick with it.

o44; hope
It had been broken, but she had restored it.

o45; eclipse

o46; gravity
Her ally, and at times his enemy.

o47; highway
Why even think about that, when they could simply be in the sky?

o48; unknown
The day there was an unknown posting in the network of the Victoria II had been the moment where they would first meet.

o49; lock
Hijikata pocketed the key before he set off for his mission, ignoring the cries of the occupant within. It simply had been for her own good.

o50; breathe
The cat was on his shoulder, and they were on the top deck. The man only looked towards the sky that encompassed both above and below them, closed his eyes and then breathed.
