“Captain, guess what I found!”
Kasamatsu swears that if it’s about another one of Kise’s fans giving him sweets, he’s making the idiot run sixty more laps - impossible or not - on his hands. “What is it?” he manages to say without too much resentment as he continues with practice.
He makes his next shot, but Kise interrupts the victorious effort by announcing, “I’ve found us a team mascot!”
Needless to say, his captain is not as happy about this turn of events as Kise and turns to tell him off. “You did what?” But then there is a cat in his face and he has to backtrack before his allergies start acting up. “Get it out of here! This is a basketball court, moron, not an animal clinic!”
When Kise presses the cat’s face against his own, pouting, Kasamatsu has to rub at his eyes to make sure he’s not seeing things. It’s an ordinary tabby, orange with yellowish stripes, but he can’t shake the feeling that he’s seen the cat somewhere before. And looking from Kise’s wide, pleading eyes to the cat and then back again, it’s apparent Kise may be more of a narcissist than he first thought.
“Urgh, fine!” he gives up when all of the rest of his teammates are giving him the same eyes as the stray cat and its wayward new master. It’s just too pitiful, his teammates are saying - without having to say anything at all. They’re siding with the cat already, petting and cooing over it. Kasamatsu knows when to admit defeat, but that doesn’t mean he has to like it. “But it’s your responsibility, Kise!”
The cat tilts its head in time with Kise, and Kasamatsu can already tell it’s a little drama queen in the making. “I don’t know anything about pet care, though. Perhaps Captain would be kind enough to help?”
For some reason, Kasamatsu feels like launching a flying kick to the blonde’s head - and he doesn’t hold back. The cat, however, escapes and lands on nimble, padded feet. Unlike its counterpart, who is now nursing a bump on the head that is most unsightly for a model. “You were saying?”
Kise whimpers and says, “I’ll take care of it,” as the cat rubs against his leg, happily purring.
