When The World Crumbles
Echizen Ryoma had no idea why he was the one doing all this. Why he was the one staying late up night, looking at his goddamn phone for any possible message that might come. Why he was the one calling over and over, cursing whenever it went straight to voice mail.
Why he was the one chasing after him, of all people.
"This is the mighty Momo! Leave your message and--Hey! That's my sushi--BEEP."
Ryoma gritted his teeth as he heard his voice in that same pathetic phrase over and over again, wanting desperately to throw the freaking phone out the window.
He checked the clock. Three forty five in the morning.
Ryoma cursed out loud and even frightened the sleeping cat on his floor, making Karupin hiss and jump on his bed. The tennis prince could hardly care as the cat lazed around his mattress, its fur sticking to the warm blanket that he was using. He could hardly care if he were to sneeze endlessly while he lay, his cat-like eyes opened wide (it's been three nights now) due to the fact that sleep hardly came to him.
It was a stupid mistake. Just...some stupid slip of the tongue that has got him in a situation that doesn't even count as grave. It was stupid of him to betray him like that, to leave him in the dirt and now...
...he's gone.
"This is the mighty Momo! Leave your message and--Hey! That's my sushi--BEEP."
It came from the right eye. A single drop, as cold as the weather outside, ran down his cheek without him noticing. The grip on the phone loosened...
...and there he was, the ice-cold tennis prince, slumped on his mahogany dresser. The tears streamed down his face as the phone was long forgotten, his hair a mess and his eyes red from all the crying he just did.
He has the fame. He has the glory. He even has everything he ever wanted yet it all boiled down to a price.
His greatest friend.
