Uh.
1) So what is it with the reviews on my recent Katara fic? I mean, I've written slash before, but it's never gotten such a vitriolic response.
I guess I'm overreacting--it's really only a couple reviews--but I was surprised by how many people mentioned the slash. That almost never happens. On the other hand, this is the first "mainstream" fic I've written for Avatar with slash, so maybe it's just the fandom?
The content of the reviews in general kind of confuse me, actually. I mean, would it kill you to mention why you didn't like a certain part? Even if it's just "something felt off to me." Almost everyone mentioned not liking the Toph section...and the Aang section...as a matter of fact, I got the impression most of them were reading for the Zutara. Which I personally thought was the worst part. Ah well, to each their own, I guess.
2) Went to the bookstore on Saturday, to pick up some quality children's reading for my little brother. I got to pick the books, which was nice--of course I chose the ones I liked, it's only natural. Spent the rest of the visit reading "Forever," by Judy Blume, which I picked up mainly because it was about sex. Don't look at me like that.
I can't tell you whether it was a good book or not--objectively, it might have been, but I absolutely hated the main character. (She calls her boyfriend's dick Ralph, for god's sake.) Anyway, I kept reading, just to see how far it got. Then I read to see whether it was a "sex is bad, kiddies!" story or a "sex is good, kiddies!" story. I should have just skipped to the end, but I wasn't thinking.
Anyway, I can see how this one made the banned books list, though I don't agree with it. *believes in freedom of speech, yo* It's not just that it discusses sex--some parts of it, IMO, kind of border on softcore porn.
Eh, all in all, a waste of time. I should have read Love, Stargirl instead. It looked to be awesome, from what I caught of it.
