 To prove sleep is extremely essential to brain function,
this week's SAT practice test, I dropped about 100 points on verbal, 
dragging my score down to a 2060, i think. give or take ten points.

Though I did a little better on the math section (720) and writing section (670),
verbal fell from (750-770) to (650-670).

I originally passed it off as a fluke, since i've been getting 750+ for the last three tests,
but upon being able to sleep 8+ hours, I noticed my brain function and general awakeness has improved dramatically.

Doing well on verbal pretty much consists of choosing answers that are explicitly on topic,
concentrating with all your might, and thinking really hard about what you're reading.

I don't sleep much during the summer since I go to class and such,
so my schedule's like:
sleep at 2-3-4am (progressively getting later and later)
get woken up at 9am,
dragged out of bed at 10am,
eat, finish up work, go to class from 2-6.

come back. surf internet, eat dinner, summer reading, and "sleep".
"sleep" is the time my parents think i'm sleeping, when in reality i'm reading manga with 
the lights off, and under the covers, using my laptop.

again, i was progressively sleeping later and later, 
and i had to wake up earlier and earlier because I have to make up tests and volunteer on Fridays,
so my schedule generally became:
get woken up at 8:30am, 
dragged out the door at 9am,
take tests until 12:30pm, 
go home, rest a bit/finish up work,
go to class, 2-6pm, internet time, summer reading, then "sleep".
and then actually sleep at like 3:30am, meaning i have 5 hours sleep for a day of tough brain work.

So yeah. I guess this is why i dropped 100 points on verbal, the section I do best at :(

I'm giving up on "sleep" and i feel my memory retention, general intelligence, and energy increasing substantially.

And I'm pretty sure I'm gonna own the verbal section next test.

I guess I learned a lesson on how important sleep is. 
Better to learn now, than next year, when it's too late.
