Book Club @ The Lowdown - it's not what you think

I am dead beat, worn out, drop down tired. I think I've finally burnt out from long hours of work and continuous social stuff. I need a weekend off to loll about on the couch dribbling into a midday movie.

Last night toriar invited a gang of us along to the rather wonderful Book Club at the Lowdown which is a rather wonderful monthly comedy night based on literature (the bad stuff mostly). Hosted by the hilarious and quick witted Robin Ince and featuring whichever Comedians they can cobble together that month.

The show is practically purpose built for me as it touches on my love of dodgy literature, bad book covers and frighteningly iffy sex scenes, plus lots and lots of laughter. Using old books and magazines as the reference point for the comedy is quite an inspired idea and makes the evening a 'movable feast' as the comic possibilities are truly endless. There was also modern interpretive dance and accordian playing. What more does one want?

Sadly, I had to dash off immediately after the show because I am in the middle of a menstrual smackdown. I swear I am having a hard slog of it emotionally and physically this month. I'm using the 'hang in there babe' method of coping :)
