ok with you andy i would say that a monk would be great.... saying that you can stay lawful... if not try a cleric of a war deity you get to wear full plate no penatlies any weapons and throw spells that have compontants plus get to turn or rebuke undead....( heal spell baby)i there are also many prestiage classes for clerics at higher levels.. plus think of it this way if you are playing with jenny and mike is dm ing do as they did and ask questions take advice ... but sit next to jenny as she did me when they started and she will be able to answer most the ?`s you have.. plus give hints.... and never forget that if a enemy comes in or out of your threat range you get a attack ofopptunity.. ie melee sword range or halbert .... or ranged att the distance your bow can shoot.
also keep in thought that its ok to step back or make a reflex roll for falling damage... most important skills you will use is spot ,listen,search!!!!!!!!! i hope this helped... or yea and if you play cleric you not only get cleric spells but those domain spells of your deity ie war....( choose 2 of theyre domains)and with war to get automatic prof. with your deitys choosen weapon....... muahhhhhhhhhh hahahahahahahahah.......
