[ Personality ] :
To summarize Lavi’s personality, he is a spontaneous and charming guy, who has enough confidence for two, a sense of humor, and an optimistic outlook on life. Despite that, he has some painful memories, and therefore, a slightly darker side. He has photographic memory, and can store information better than any book, as he, himself, is a Bookman in training.
First and foremost, Lavi really is an optimist. As well as a joker. He is one who likes to have fun, and constantly bothers others; like, for example, drawing on people’s faces when they sleep, or braiding Kanda’s hair ( a more suicidal tendency). He won’t hurt anyone intentionally, emotionally of physically; he teases in good heart.
Lavi has an exceptional memory. He was able to find a key within millions of others because he memorized the “scratches, dirt, all the patterns of the plating of the real key” of that particular key. Because he is able to first, memorize, and then, retain so much information, he is quite smart, despite his relaxed attitude towards most things…(well, to put it simply, he comes off as pretty stupid, until someone actually gets to know him). His specialty, given that he is a Bookman (in training), is anything history, and he will be able to discuss any historical event with brutal accuracy. He doesn’t come off as someone who flaunts this skill, or his amazing memory, because, again, he comes kind of…unintelligent. Or at least, not as smart as he actually is.
This red-haired teen has a thing for pretty (older) women, and will yell out “Strike!” before going over to charm said woman with compliments. Usually, it doesn’t really end well, as he will most likely end up hitting on an Akuma disguised as a human. It happened. Twice.
Now, to get to the darker aspects of his personalities. He has skeletons in his closet. Yet again, who doesn’t? A time ago, he was pretty antisocial and stayed away from establishing any sort of emotional and personal ties with anyone. His main concern and interest was in becoming a Bookman. As a Bookman, his teacher had preached, he shouldn’t have a biased outlook on events. Established connections with others threatened that bias. It is a fact that he had 48 other aliases before he adopted the name ‘Lavi’. It was seen in the Noah’s Ark arc that his most recent alias prior to Lavi was Deak, and it showed Lavi’s darker, more detached side. Essentially, the chapter showed not only Lavi’s past self, but how much he has changed.
So, from the start, the funny, charming and laid-back personality Lavi displayed was a mere façade. That is, until he began to understand that he actually does care for his fellow exorcists. Now, he truly can say that he cares about them: Lenalee, Allen, Kanda, and Old Panda (his mentor, Bookman), and the rest of the Order. So, the person he is now-it’s him.
Despite being such a care-free person from the outside, he simply is good at keeping his worries, issues and secrets to himself. He is an easy-going guy, and is easy to talk to, to build an acquaintance. To actually get him to talk to you? And I mean like, really talk to him, really see who he is, what makes him tick…That’s a bit tough. It almost seems like he would prefer to forget his former selves. That is in the past, and he would much rather be the guy he is now.
It may seem, straight off the bat, like this guy won’t take anything seriously. Well, for him, in all depends on the situation. He will have his moments of trying to cheer someone up by cracking a joke, or having his easy-going attitude. At other times, he will be thoughtful, and serious, offering a steady and stern piece of advice. It was also seen that he can snap at someone else, especially when said someone is upset. He made a point that there is no use being upset and that they should all just accept the situation. Most of the time, however, he is caring and aware of most people’s feelings. Most of the time. Or at least, most of the time, he has good control of his emotions. However, like anyone, he can let slip what he is truly thinking. But that doesn’t happen too often.
In a battle, this guy means business. He wields a hammer (look in Other Important Facts for an elaboration) with impressive skill, and just generally has extremely good fighting skills. He can be very cocky in battle, probably because he knows he can handle most situations. Other times, it has been seen that he will simply fight like something important depends on it (which, when that happens, it usually does). He is even willing to get himself killed, rather than see his friends get hurt.
[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
Strengths:
-Photographic memory: he is able to remember any image, text, sound, detail, and scratch after only seeing/hearing it once.
-Intelligence: because of the amount of books he was read, and from all he has seen, and was taught, this teen has one high i.q
-Fighting skills: he, being an exorcist and thus being put into high-combat situations, has to have some sort of combat knowledge. Well, this charming red-head has quite notable and impressive skills when it comes to fighting. He is able to fight with his hammer like a complete pro.
Weaknesses:
-His past. Even though he tries to forget about who he was and prefers to focus on who he is, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t haunt him. And it can certainly be used as a weakness against him and it has been .
-His emotions: Even though he usually has a good grasp on his emotions, he can slip. And when he does react emotionally, that can certainly be used as a weakness. Because once he slips, and if all the cards are played right he will go over the edge. Hasn’t really happened yet though.
-Women: if it’s a pretty girl his immediate reaction is to go over and flirt with her. Well, it appears Lavi is not really blessed in the luck department, as a few times, the women he tried flirting with ended up being disguised Akuma.
[ Other Important Facts ] : Hammer: “Big Hammer Little Hammer”: It is his weapon. It is a magical weapon, which only he can control. This particular hammer can grow to any size and length, but will remain a constant weight for Lavi, never going too heavy. With this hammer, not only can Lavi smash through almost anything and reach impressive heights and lengths, but he can also control the elements with seals, which appear in a circle around him, when activated. He typically activates the chosen seal by hitting it with his hammer. His most prefered element appears to be fire. He has: the Fire Seal (produces a torrent of fire, resembling a snake or dragon), the Heaven Seal (generates a vast storm of lightning), the Wood Seal (controls objects in nature, like clouds and wind) and the Combo Seal (combo of Heaven and Fire seals, which creates a huge snake of Fire and Iron; can also be used to create an extremely sturdy wall of fire). There are also other seals, but it has not been revealed what they can do.
His eye patch: it is a mystery to all as to why he wear an eye patch on his right eye. But he does. Although nothing is certain, it was implied that the reasons are not medical.

A single emerald eye opens. Bright red hair, in a disarray, fall over an attractive face as a teen of 18 bolts up.
“Wha--?” He drones out, looking around, blinking, his single eye wide. His other one is hidden behind a black eye patch.
Said red-head scratches his head, slowly pushing himself to his feet, still absorbing the entirety of his surroundings. A plaza?
“I don’t …Where am I?” His red scarf is in a mess around his neck, and his uniform unbuttoned.
He freezes momentarily as he tries to recall the last thing he remembers. That’s right! Noah! Wasn’t he…captured by them? That’s right! And those parasites…
He shudders at the memory. But…why was he alright now?
He looked around again, then nearly jumped as he heard something behind him. A small, fluttering thing was floating above him. “E-ehh?” He blinked up and moved a step away. Gaped, mouth open, as it followed. It fluttered in the sky. Hold it. The sky. Something was wrong with it. Bubbles? In the sky? Fish? The sky wasn’t supposed to have fish….and a city square wasn’t supposed to have a huge-ass coral as a decoration. And by the looks of it, a live one too.
“Gahhhh,” he groaned loudly, massaging the back of his neck. He turned around, to look out at the plaza-looking area. There really wasn’t anyone out there to ask…
He bit the side of his cheek, eyebrows drawn. Okay...he needed to think about this. What did he have to go on? He was with Old Panda, the Noah were asking for information...then what? He remembered the amounts of pain he was in...and shivered again. He wondered where his friends were. Last time he heard from any of them was them going against Noah. He shook his head, firmly deciding to first sort out this little...mess he was in. By the looks of it, it was some weird underwater city. Okay. Why was he here? How? Here was where?
Inhaling a deep breath, frustrated by the lack of answers, enough for his head to spin a bit, he cupped a hand around his mouth. “OI! Annyyyonee there?!” Oh boy, this was frustrating.
