[ It is yet another normal day of school,as far as Sai is concerned. People probably have not remembered his birthday, he is not expecting them to anyway. So here he is, wandering the hallways as usual.]

[ He stops, turning around and looking at Gaara.]

You have something for me? Is it homework? [ He has been away from school after all.]

[He shakes his head, smiling.]

No, it's a birthday present.

[Still hanging onto his sleeve, he leads him towards his locker.]

Well, I'd probably have a poor opinion of myself if I did. You're meant to remember these days of the people you care for. To show you appreciate them, and are glad for their existence and their presence in your life.

[he dug around in his locker, before tugging out a bag, with things wrapped in it. A set of stirling silver and oak wood paint brushes in a custom wooden box that he'd had engraved with a design from one of Sai's paintings, a bracelet that matched the ring he'd gave him and a book of designs from ancient temples in South America.]

...a gift? [Taking the gifts, Sai sits down, opening the first - pulling out the brush set.]

[ a smile crosses his lips as fingers trace the design on the box, before opening it and seeing the brushes.]

I haven't seen designs like this before.. it will give me something new to practice. Thank you Gaara. [And now he is properly smiling]
