Come hang out with me in a research lab!

Hey friends! I'm working as a research assistant for the month of August in a kinesiology lab at UMass, and we need subjects!! As of now, we have more scheduled data collection times than we have subjects to fill them. Currently Monday and Tuesday at 12 are both in need of subjects, as are Wednesday and Thursday at 9 (when I'll be working, double bonus!). The study takes roughly 2 hours and 15 minutes. Luckily the lab is in the basement of Totman, so it stays fairly cool.

Here's the info about the study:
We are looking for participants for a project studying the coordination dynamics of the postural and respiratory systems. We are looking for male and female subjects, 18-33 years old, with no asthma, no history of back or neck pain or balance disorders, and who don't smoke. We are scheduling subjects 9am, 12pm, and 3pm weekdays starting August 1st. If you would be willing to participate or would like more information, please contact Molly at mjohnson@nsm.umass.edu or 413-687-1508, providing 3-4 times you would be able to come.

The purpose of this study is to examine how we regulate breathing during
different kinds of movement. The project will involve standing and doing some repetitive arm, trunk, and head movements. We will monitor your breathing with a facemask and tape reflective markers on your skin to record your motion. During a few of the trials, we will challenge breathing by attaching a tube to the facemask that increases the volume of respiration to that of a light to moderate run. Subjects will come in one time for a total of 2-3 hours.

We cannot provide compensation, but your participation will be greatly
appreciated. Feel free to forward this email to anyone you know who might be interested in being a subject.
