Today, I discovered that the webcam on my laptop is actually functional, and although I can't figure out what programme to open it with, I can apparently record straight to YouTube. \o/
Today I also got a panicked call from my Grandad saying he'd locked himself out and could I bring spare keys. My parents were out, but between me and my brother we worked out which ones were the spares, so I could ride (or... walk) to the rescue. I think he'd just gone out into the garden and left his keys inside. One of the creepier men from the complex was looking after him, insisting I get another spare cut and that my grandad give it to "someone he trusts in the building." I hope it isn't that guy.
I also watched An American Tail, which I used to LOVE, but haven't seen since I was about nine. Holy crap, I nearly cried. When he gives up near the end, when the other orphan mice tell him he's trash, he's nothing, that his parents don't care about him? And he shivering in his sleep? I had apparently repressed that entire sequence. FIEVEL. FIIIIIIEEVEEEELLLLL!!
Although the ending is a little cheesy, what with the Statue of Liberty winking and all. It doesn't stop that little mouse being the most adorable thing ever. Now I'm going to have to track down Fievel Goes West, because my love of American Tail was always eclipsed by the entire fantastic universe of the sequel. And that one had the TV series, too. (It may also explain why I love Back to the Future III so damn much...)
Thinking about it now, a lot of my favourite childhood characters were mice. Basil. Mrs Frisbee. Fievel. Bernard and Bianca. Mouse films were so good.
I'm celebrating my newly regained Fievel love with an icon. LOOKIT HIS LITTLE FEET!
(This lengthy spazzing brought to you in place of the Sam Troughton based spazzing I've been doing for the rest of the day. :D)
