Things That Are Awesome:
- Getting homemade brownies in the post. THIS ROCKS. And they're delicious.
- Dollhouse getting a second season. I know this is now old news in the land of the internet, but I'm still ridiculously happy about it for all the reasons I previously stated in my Omega Reaction Post.
- I poached eggs today for the first time EVER. And they tasted good. This is the most recent in a week-long experiment entitled "So, I bought two packs of bacon and 6 eggs. HOW MANY WAYS CAN THEY BE COMBINED?!" Spaghetti carbonara is the most ambitious of my cooking exploits. See above, re: tasting good.
- New episode of Robin Hood this weekend. Moar Sam Troughton is never an un-awesome thing.
- Michael Drayton. The dude wrote some excellent poetry. Have a free sample:
Love, in a humour, played the prodigal,
And bade my senses to a solemn feast;
Yet more to grace the company withal,
Invites my heart to be the chiefest guest.
No other drink would serve this glutton's turn
But precious tears distilling from mine eyne,
Which with my sighs this epicure doth burn,
Quaffing carouses in this costly wine;
Where, in his cups o'ercome with foul excess,
Straightways he plays a swagg'ring ruffin's part,
And at the banquet, in his drunkenness,
Slew his dear friend, my kind and truest heart.
A gentle warning, friends, thus may you see,
What 'tis to keep a drunkard company
He basically comes up with a series of awesome metaphors for love. And they're all kinda funny and a bit sad and generally epic. The Tudors were COOL.
