Spring break update

One of the perks of being a teacher: spring break.

I kicked off spring break right on Friday by going out with a few new friends from Ottawa. We ran in to a ton of teachers from LP and had a really great time. It was fun to just cut loose a little bit and hang out with a few people my age. Saturday, I spent the night in the city with Greenock and Megan. It was a blast. It actually prompted me to decide to split my time between home and LP this summer... so if anyone knows of any part-time jobs I could take, let me know.

Yesterday, I spent most of the day sleeping and watching TV. It was awesome. Today and tomorrow, I am going to try to plan a little bit for The Things They Carried and maybe grade some papers. Grades are due Monday (of course they couldn't be due the week AFTER spring break, especially since we can't get in the building at all... not that I would go in if I could...) Then, Thursday, I'm headed home to do a whirlwind of things. I'm going to see Mike for the first time since Thanksgiving, I'm going into the city again to meet up with a guy I met on Saturday, and I'm going to have coffee with Jess on Friday!! Friday night, I'm headed down to Bloomington to help Diego celebrate winning the Babbit's prize for short fiction and maybe attend the flute choir recital for old times' sake.

I've honestly been doing very well. I know that's pretty uncharacteristic of me in a situation like this, but the past few weeks' events have really helped me see that I do want to stay in LP for another year, if only to have the experience teaching creative writing and doing another year of Drama Club. I think this will be a valuable experience for me. Plus, I really hope Jack gets the job here! That would just be fun to work with a friend. Everyone wish him good luck. His interview is on the 11th.

You know, there's a lot of comfort that comes with stability and knowing what you're going to do with the next year of your life...

lp, life, school
