Wow, did I get a lot done in the past 24 hours.
Last night, I worked on the "Player's Guide" part of my thesis. See, the whole thesis is a press kit assembled to promote my novel (which, for the purpose of the thesis, is complete, but is actually only 3 chapters in). As part of the project, I decided to pretend like Wizards of the Coast had previously published C's world, and so am including several sections out of the players guide for his world. I spent over four hours hashing out the greater and lesser gods, along with scouring the intertubes for images to use not only for their symbols (in the same manner as the "Almanac" section of the Forgotten Realms Player's Guide) but also for images that I thought could work for the gods themselves, if they ever chose to take physical form.
I'm 95% happy with all the images I've chosen which, given how picky I am, is saying something. It's just - man. I was so excited when I was finished with the thing - it also has a blurb about the world's calendar and a bit about uber-elementals - that I wanted to send it off to our campaign group, but it's too large of a file to e-mail or post to Yahoo!Groups, so I'll have to bring in my hard-drive tomorrow, and force them all to take a look before we start playing.
I'm about to edit chapter 3 before sending it off, along with the player's guide tidbits and one or two other things. At some point, I have to steal a camera from someone, because an author photo is part of all press kits, and I am camera-less until graduation.
Upon graduation, however, I will be the happy owner of either a
Nikon Coolpix L110, a
Canon PowerShot SX120, or a
Kodak EasyShare Z915. I cannot express how excited I am to finally have a camera again! I am pretty sure I left my in a hotel in Indy after GenCon last year. Which is doubly annoying, because I was too overwhelmed by my first GenCon experience to even use it, so I have no idea how I accidentally left it there at all! But I noticed its absence over a month after staying at the hotel, and I guess they clean out their lost and found every month (read: they let the employees take home the stuff guests forget to claim). So...that was disappointing, but I've never really been one to take a ton of pictures anyway, except that now that I have my own place, and pets, and a blog...well, you get the idea. Plus, I scrapbook when I can afford it, and I'd really like to pick that hobby back up again.
I can't wait to be done with school for good (although I have no idea how I'll be able to pay off my graduate loans). Just thinking about all the free time I'll have...I'm hoping it's enough to get me through this final month.
Heading home over the weekend to go shopping for a bridesmaid's dress with my sister, who is getting married in September. My older sister is the matron of honor, I'm the maid of honor, and I've missed two other dress shopping excursions thus far (I live almost three hours away), so it should be lots of fun. I love weddings. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding for a middle school friend last summer, and it was the most fun I've had in a long time. In any case, I made the decision to leave early (and I do mean EARLY) Saturday morning to make the 10:30 appointment, which basically means I shouldn't sleep at all tomorrow night. We usually get home from D&D after 2, and as I'll be waking up around 6 to shower before leaving...well...I'm just hoping there's excellent driving weather that morning. I can deal with no sleep if the sun is shining and I have music to play.
