Third year project.
The subject of the project was Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, each student had to choose a paragraph from a book as an inspiration. I prefered to work with the second book about Alice's advetures - Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There wich was written later. The paragraph I have chosen is about Alice visiting the garden of talking flowers. Flowers think of her as a strange, abnornal flower and don't understand that she's just another kind of a creature, she is a human girl. This paragraph reminded me of a common situation when society does not welcome an outsider. This can happen in any social group, for example buisness men, the "white collars", would not accept or take seriously a man who does not look according to the dress code of the business world. This made me think about such kind of an outsider. What would he look like? Would he like to be complitely different, or would he use his clothing as a hideaway from intrusive glances?
My collection was created to be avagard but still elegant, which reminds also of a traditional man costume.I decided to stay in minimalistic colour pallete of black, grey and white with a touch of bright colors in print on the shirt.Prints were inspired by Venus Flytrap flower wich attacks insects. Clothes I have designed are similar to traditional by color but very different by shape, sometimes looking oversized.Big jacket hides what is underneath - loose, printed shirt.
