Trevor wished to put the events of the last few weeks behind him. It had been a while since he truly performed any surgery, nearly a year. He figured it'd be best to give his surgical 'muscles' a workout. Besides, the prospect of giving a voice to someone who lacked it presented interesting possibilities.

Trevor had the equipment ready. All that was required was for both Caroline and Chell to show up. Again, Trevor was a man of near-infinite patience.

She's woken up by the blip of her comm, and what she finds on it makes her eyes go wide, and nearly fall out of her bed. Seriously? It wasn't...some kind of joke, she hoped! Or even a trap.

Either way, it was too good to be true, especially after Cave Johnson's offer, wasn't it?

She bites her bottom lip. Why not stop by? Her trust in Caroline outshined her doubt. Knowing she had some influence in her future rescue solidified her trust, and she pulled on some shoes and a coat, and headed right out the door, her knuckles white around the device.

Wandering a bit around the complex, she's confused as to just where this Mr. Goodchild lived. Standing on the street corner nearby, she sends a quick text to Caroline:

where?

"Over here!" She waved, assuming Chell may have needed some added direction. She waited just outside the compound.

"I'm glad you could make it. Once we go inside, we're going to need to do some quick medical tests and then prep you for surgery." She said it like it was going to be just a simple procedure. Nothing big. Just brain surgery.

She happily lead Chell into the complex to where Trevor was waiting.

Trevor sees them outside the compound gates. He descends, opening the gates.

Once outside, he arrives to the entrance, already dressed in a surgical gown and gloves.

He nods to Caroline. The other woman must be Chell...interesting features, he noted. But back to the matter at hand.

"Excellent. We can begin preparing for the procedure. Come inside."

Already, she's nervous. She gulps, excitement siphoned by the anxiety. Just how much she trusted Caroline now was now in question, but, she bit her cheek, and figured, what's the worst that could happen?

Really?

She stops, and offers a hand to Trevor. To shake of course, she'd at least like to introduce herself properly to the man, especially if he was going to be messing around in her head.

Or, you know, give her a voice.

As Chell introduced herself to Trevor, Caroline went to get ready for the procedure. It would be her job to play assistant and be any extra hands Trevor may need.

Trevor shook hands with the mute girl, as courteous always.

"I suppose an introduction would be appropriate. I am Trevor Goodchild. Hopefully we can finish this as soon as possible."

He walks into the compound, up the several floors into the surgery room.

Chell nods, hopefully that would be enough.

Quickly as possible doesn't exactly settle her nerves either, but oh well. She follows the two along gingerly, not shy, but not exactly ready to hop onto a table either.

She makes constant looks to Caroline, if her nervousness wasn't apparent before, it is now.

"You'll be fine, I promise. If anything unexpected happens, I'll meet you at the well. It won't come to that, of course, but there's no true danger here. Mr. Goodchild knows what he's doing."

Well, Caroline trusted that he knew what he was doing, anyway. He had been trustworthy so far.

His array of tools appear sparse next to the operating table. He waves towards the table, all pristine, "She's right. I've done this thousands of time before. You'll be fully sedated, incapable of any pain."

She swallows hard again and nods, slipping off her jacket and setting it near her feet. Thousands of times, fully sedated. It was just...going to be like jumping in a pool of cold water, she supposed, that she was making it more than it really was, and when it was over, she'd surface with a voice. Hopefully.

Taking a seat back on the table, she breathes deeply, imagining anything worse than this. After all, she had been through worse, she concluded.

Trevor offers his thin smile in return, "Excellent. Soon, you'll awake with a new voice."

He uncaps a syringe from his pocket, tapping it to test its validity.

Turning to Chell, he explains, "Anesthetic. To ensure your safety. I'll require your arm."

She nodded. Side of the swimming pool. This was it.

Offering her arm up as though she were saying goodbye to it, a brief thought occured; maybe she should've told someone other than Caroline.

Someone she knows, trusts. Then it occurred that...there weren't many people like that to her. Mere acquaintances. Well.

It could be worse, right? She could be sitting at the bottom of the incinerator.

Trevor was a man of many allegiances, many enemies. He's danced across the moral spectrum many times, but he always belonged to his own principle.

Thus, when the opportunity arises to better mankind legitimate or otherwise, he cannot refuse the opportunity to say no.

With little further word, he sinks in the needle.

"Within thirty seconds she should be sedated."

Caroline watched, but her attention was more on the devices around them. The tools needed, were they in the proper places, what were all their names, when would they be used? She knew, of course, but it was being drilled in her memory to ensure there wouldn't be any hesitation once a tool was finally called for.

Most people describe anesthesia as lying on a cloud, but really, it hit her like nothing else had before. In fact, she didn't even see it coming. It just...happened.

This was the cold water, and her eyes fluttered shut without another thought.
