Where: At the edge of the forest When: Sunday afternoon/evening after this post. Who: Chell and Caroline What: Caroline wants a little help testing her new portal making invention. Warnings: None
It had been a while since Chell ever seriously considered strapping back on the long fall boots. But she did, like she'd never taken them off. A quick leap from her apartment window was enough proof they were still in working condition, and she was on her way to the edge of the forest for the second time during her stay. Why was she so eager, she didn't know. But to have some kind of Portal device within the confines of the city?
When Caroline spotted Chell, she stepped forward and turned her device back on. The gun she was holding held only a few faint resemblences to the Aperture Sceince Handheld Portal Device that she was used to. Her right hand staid inside the gun which had an oval shaped body and a clear midsection that extended into a round nozle. That was pretty much where the simularities ended

[ Caroline, you've done all but blow Chell's freakin' mind. Everything would be easier with free standing portals. Peering into the blue portal, she put an arm through it, the whistling of a paradox singing only for a moment. She brightened at the noise, then put her arm in the other side.
Wonderful.
Then she tested Caroline's theory, and held the sides of the portal. A Free Standing Portal.
Caroline would have no idea the convenience. Especially---well. You know. Her smile was huge as she fumbled for her comm. ]
"There are a few dangerous things I've found when throwing objects into it at first. The outsides of the portal are weak. If something hits it too hard, it collapses and if anything was inside, it's cut in half. Also, if two things enter the same portal on different sides, like in the dark and light blue at once, there's a 50% chance that the complex translations between the two portals will get mixed up and the two objects might end up fused to one another when they come out. I'm still working on that part."
She slips from the tank's shoulder straps. "And of course there's the danger of falling from a great height. That would harm the user and the device and there are highly explosive materials powering it."
