... well... that was part of it. [Inhale. Relax. Exhale.] She... after she had cut me open, she smashed Benson's head in with the... the hammer, and then he kinda... melted into ink before... I dunno, getting absorbed into the ground. Then she turned to me and... started ripping my guts out, but, but I was still alive at that time, then... she... ripped out my heart. Then I woke up back at the InkWell.

Yeah, but... kinda makes sense. The fountain's filled with ink, you turn to ink when you die... it's like respawning.
