Love Hack
Apologies for being out of the loop on what's going on with folks. Had the hacking crud for the past few days, missed a day of work, and I haven't checked in with LiveJournal very thoroughly from home. Thanks to dom_ino for getting me helpful meds, special tea, a movie, dinner, etc. I am very sorry all I have given in return to this point is some weak mumbles and a case of the cruds itself. Hope you feel better today. Eat the orange! Take the pills! Drink the water!

Had my first group discussion for the "That's Revolting" book that thornyc had spotlighted on his journal was this past Sunday at our place. Since it was our first meeting, we didn't really discuss the book yet. Instead, we talked about the term "queer" -- what it meant and whether we identified with it and then broadly discussed a queer/gay person's role in society now. A lot of the discussion centered on the importance of keeping joy/desire at the center of all work, becoming more authentically and publcally who we are as queer/gay, avoiding the pitfalls of language wars, supporting a increased literacy and democratic dialogue, and re-investing in public space. There were seven people who came, including myself. Everyone was really engaged, able to discuss with sincerity and humor. I was on that proverbial 9th cloud.

A big thank you to creepy1966 and his wife T! I got my package in the mail yesterday! Perfect timing, since I was laid up in bed at the time. Joe brought the package in and set it down on top of my feet when he came home for lunch. I perked up immediately. Tell T I love the scarf, that it is that PERfect color of green, with that hint of yellow woven into it. Anhd thank you ver' much for the Geraldine Fibbers cd. I can't wait to get reacquainted with Butch and its angry, gothy, country-fiddle sound!

And BIG news! Raucous hugs to f8n_begorra and his partner whiskerfish for offering a space in their home for me to visit San Francisco for a week this spring! It'll be so amazing to get the chance to hang with you, goof off, shoot the breeze! I am already chomping at the bit to go now, can barely wait til May!
