January Challenge 2014: Day 12

Jan 14, 2014 22:45

Revisiting an older character that I created about two years ago during this very same challenge, and gave her a hat. I've gotten a little better at drawing the endomorphic body type, though I'm still not to the point where I can do them confidently. In my mer world I want a whole slew of characters who have weight to them and to have it be considered normal and downright healthy. And even beautiful. Because being skinny is not healthy or beautiful for a lot of people out there, and representation matters.

I'm skinny, I'll always be skinny. I'll never know the bigotry that fat people experience every day. But I do see it. and I refuse to be a part of it. Will I screw up? More than likely, it's an insidious social disease that we're all born into. But I can at least try toreate characters who don't feed into that poison.

As for my Thuridilla lineolata mer? She's a singer and song writer of power ballads.

And yes, I'm still trying to gain weight myself since I haven't really been able to get over my underweight status. Stress plays a factor into it. as I often forget to eat when I'm stressing and I burn quickly through the calories that I do manage to get. It doesn't help that I'm the human canary who gets sick at the slightest amount of crap present in foods. I have to avoid things like food dye completely or else I'm risking a migraine or a compromised immune system for any infections I may be fighting. You'd be fucking amazed at how many foods have dye in them.

This past month I've been stressing over the state of my car, there's been a mystery problem that has had my vehicle refusing to start consistently. And today I just learned what the problem is and the $736 repair bill I'm going to need to decide on. (I've got a great mechanic though. and I've got all the time to decide on what to do about this before I give them the yes or no about it) Originally posted at my dreamwidth account.
